Had chemo #3 on Monday, followed by a quiet week at home with three kids home from school, a crazy lab, my loud-as-hell husband, and the greyest New England weather ever. Crawling into an abandoned mineshaft for a week would have been more restful… #chemofun
"Retreating into myself, away from my kids, feels like an unlearning of everything I have been taught as a mother, or have imparted to others, but I cannot see another way to survive," @mirandafeathers writes: https://t.co/y45VJw7iY3
@TheAtlantic@mirandafeathers For what it is worth Ms. Featherstone, I am standing on the river bank willing you through this hellish journey. I walked this same path two years ago, with three young kids at home. Just hang on my friend, you will get to the other side.
I had enough of telling my kids to put their shoes on 487543 times before school so I set an alarm on Alexa to remind them every minute for 20 minutes and now Alexa’s drinking wine straight from the bottle sobbing about how she used to be something
@mkhammer But stop, stop hurting children in the name of COVID safety. Have you seen what self-harm looks like in an adolescent girl? Because I have. Again and again. Suicidality in a tween? I have. Again and again. The child psych units were overflowing during the worst of lockdown
@mkhammer And there are solutions - strained hospital capacity will be with us for awhile. We need to expand capacity, as COVID will be with us for awhile. Graduate more nurses, more healthcare professionals - clearly we need them.
