Hidden Town of Monemvasia, Greece.

Carved into a massive rock rising from the sea, Monemvasia is one of the oldest continually inhabited fortified towns in Europe.

Founded in the 6th century, the town was designed to be nearly invisible from the mainland — accessible through a single narrow entrance carved into the rock. (Its name literally means “single passage.”)

Behind its medieval walls lie Byzantine churches, stone houses, and labyrinthine alleys that have survived empires, sieges, and centuries of change.
