Hadley were back in action today in a league game away against Graveley CC. Returning skipper Dave summers kept up his usual record of losing the toss and Graveley decided to bat first. Tight bowling restricted Graveley to begin with.
petros 32 playing particularly nicely however after 2 quick wickets left the monk 73-4. Captain Dave (53) and vice captain rav then put on the a crucial partnership of 70 odd which put the monk on the brink before milky 21* and Chris G saw them home for a 4 wicket win.
The minefield playing its usual tricks meant that it was a slightly tricky chase for Hadley, however led by Rav (39) the boys got home to win by 4 wickets. MOTM went to Ravi for his bowling spell and WOTW to Athi for some usual comical fielding
The Hadley lads were back in action today taking on mayfield at the notorious “minefield”. Rav captaining kept up the great Monken tradition of losing the toss. As a result Hadley were asked to field first. Strong opening spells from Andy smith (1-12) and Athi (1-14)
Meant mayfield ld were always under pressure and a superb fielding display highlighted by Ragu’s one handed catch meant they never scored at any rate. Ravi (4-4) and Chris (2-12) then came on to clean up the rest meaning mayfield were bowled out for 94.
A good effort all round though to make a game of it, with lessons to be learnt for the next game.
MOTM went to nikhil for his batting and WOTW to bal for some all round stuff.
Tough day at the office. Little berkhamsted chased down the total for the loss of 5 wickets. Chris and Athavan both taking 2 wickets each for the monk.
Hindsight batting first was not the right move, and the pitch dramatically improved throughout the day with the sun.
Hadley make 129-7 off there 40 on an extremely tough pitch to bat on. Nikhil top scoring with 39 and Andy smith making 37 in a good partnership to rescue the innings

Special mention to Athi for an extremely tight spell after spending the week on his sick bed. A very good win in what has been a tough year on and off the pitch for the monk. MOTM went to keegan and Wally harshly to athi.
The monk played @OMTCricketClub on Sunday away. Batting first we put up 196-9 in 40 overs on a tough slow pitch. Keegan top scoring with 66, rakesh (Judas) playing his first game of season made 33 and Ben 25*. In reply tight bowling & some excellent all round fielding. 1/3
Meant that OMTs were always behind the rate & although they got close due to the match finishing in almost darkness, the monk closed out victory by 16 runs. 2 wickets each for keegan & Chris Perrin. 1 for mat, rakesh & Andy smith. 2 run outs by milky & Chris the other wickets 2/3
