My old job, which donated to Autism Speaks, decided to change "Favorite Color Day" to "Wear Blue Day" for autism awareness. Problem is, no one told me, an actual autistic person. I showed up to "Wear Blue Day" dresses all in red, which is a heck of a metaphor. #ActuallyAutistic
Car insurance is like “You need us in case of an accident, and if an accident happens and you try to use us, we will rain the fires of hell upon your world.”
"God is Dead" doesn't scare me any more than "Harry Potter is Dead" because neither of them are fucking real. Both of them are just characters written by bigots to sell books
If, when I was a young boy, my father took me into the city to see the marching band, but then, while we were watching the marching band, he asked me if I’d be the savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned, I probably would have just dissociated.
If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the Black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control
Meanwhile, millions of women will have to suck it up and go about our work day, because there’s too much shit to be done. Because that’s what we do. Because we have no choice but to be strong at all times.
Forced birth in a country with:
—No universal healthcare
—No universal childcare
—No paid family & medical leave
—One of the highest rates of maternal mortality among rich nations
This isn't about "life." It's about control.
them: “have you tried using a todo list?”
me: “a what? I’ve never even heard of that before. My ADHD is cured, thank you so much!!”
[how a non-ADHD person imagines the conversation will go, otherwise why ask the question?!]
the toy based on the movie that’s supposed to be the movie that the toy we know was based on doesn’t look like the toy we know but instead looks like the character from the movie that they made that was supposed to be the basis for the toy
@pot8um Wow. It's so mild in comparison, but when I told my psychiatrist that I was autistic, he was like "I never would have guessed!" Like, sorry you're bad at guessing bro 🤷It sure is weird to explain neurodivergence to a psychiatrist when I was just there for my Zoloft lol
This week, I brought up an autism assessment with my psychiatrist for the second time.
The first time, he told me I can’t be autistic because I don’t speak in a monotone voice.
During this visit, he told me I can’t be autistic because I’m a good communicator.
