The 3 fastest strikeout pitches by ANY starting pitcher in ANY game since 2008 (when pitch tracking began):
1. Jacob Misiorowski vs. Schwarber: 104.5 mph
2. Jacob Misiorowski vs. Harper: 104.1 mph
3. Jacob Misiorowski vs. Turner: 103.5 mph
All in the 1st inning tonight.
Most dominant pitching performance I've ever seen.
If you have seen better, please tell me when and where.
One Schwarber single away from a perfect game.
4 104+ pitches
11 103+
25 102+
37 101+
50 100+
No 3-ball count all night
Five 2-ball counts
.@Phillies lose to MIL, 6-0. Misiorowski threw a 1H 0BB 15K Maddux. 95 pitches. The Phils’ hitters are near bottom of MLB, but this was Miz’s best game by far. One base runner, erased by a DP. 103 last pitch.
Garcia on 60-day (torn lat). Ugh. Rincones up.
Season: 37-32 8.5GB
If you are curious about how a price war between OpenAI and Anthropic will end, study the history of Sirius and XM Radio before & post merger. In capital intensive businesses, like satellite radio and LLMs, financial viability often comes only after 1 or more financial failures.
This is it.
OpenAI is now considering drastic price cuts to win users from Anthropic, who will likely cut right back. Two companies losing billions, about to compete each other's margins to zero.
Buffett's worst kind of business: one that grows rapidly, devours capital, and earns nothing. He meant airlines. The most important industry of its age, where the customer wins and the shareholder bleeds.
Revolutionary technology and a good investment have never been the same thing.
The internet was real too. Most of the companies building it still went to zero.
Aaron Sorkin’s new film, The Social Reckoning, returns to the Facebook Cinematic Universe, this time thru the lens of @FrancesHaugen’s courageous whistleblowing. Trailer looks fantastic! Jeremy Strong’s Zombie Zuck terrifies me.
Film opens October 9.

TOR walks off @Phillies, 3-2, as Duran blows his first save. Gave up 2 runs B9 on 3 singles without retiring a batter.
Wheeler was superb: 6IP, 6H, 1ER, 0BB, 5K. Kerkering, Alvarado were clean.
Stott put Phils up 2-1, T9 w/ 2B. Phils had 5 hits, TOR 6.
Season: 36-31 9.5GB
My favorite moment in tonight’s @Phillies win over TOR: after Pinango 2B to lead off B6 (and Garcia E that put him at 3B w/ none out), Sanchez struck out Springer, Lukes, and Vladdy to strand Pinango.
Phils are 15-7 in their last 22, all but one vs teams > or =.500.
.@Phillies top TOR, 5-2. Sanchez not his best, but still great. 7IP 4H 2ER 1BB 10K. Keller terrifying, but 0R. Duran Sv 16.
Offense struck early off old friend Corbin. Garcia 2R HR T2. 3R on little ball T3.
6 games over for 1st time. “Spank your tomatoes!”
Season: 36-30 9GB.
Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4,000 employees.
$30 per seat per month.
$1.4 million annually.
I called it "digital transformation."
The board loved that phrase.
They approved it in eleven minutes.
No one asked what it would actually do.
Including me.
I told everyone it would "10x productivity."
That's not a real number.
But it sounds like one.
HR asked how we'd measure the 10x.
I said we'd "leverage analytics dashboards."
They stopped asking.
Three months later I checked the usage reports.
47 people had opened it.
12 had used it more than once.
One of them was me.
I used it to summarize an email I could have read in 30 seconds.
It took 45 seconds.
Plus the time it took to fix the hallucinations.
But I called it a "pilot success."
Success means the pilot didn't visibly fail.
The CFO asked about ROI.
I showed him a graph.
The graph went up and to the right.
It measured "AI enablement."
I made that metric up.
He nodded approvingly.
We're "AI-enabled" now.
I don't know what that means.
But it's in our investor deck.
A senior developer asked why we didn't use Claude or ChatGPT.
I said we needed "enterprise-grade security."
He asked what that meant.
I said "compliance."
He asked which compliance.
I said "all of them."
He looked skeptical.
I scheduled him for a "career development conversation."
He stopped asking questions.
Microsoft sent a case study team.
They wanted to feature us as a success story.
I told them we "saved 40,000 hours."
I calculated that number by multiplying employees by a number I made up.
They didn't verify it.
They never do.
Now we're on Microsoft's website.
"Global enterprise achieves 40,000 hours of productivity gains with Copilot."
The CEO shared it on LinkedIn.
He got 3,000 likes.
He's never used Copilot.
None of the executives have.
We have an exemption.
"Strategic focus requires minimal digital distraction."
I wrote that policy.
The licenses renew next month.
I'm requesting an expansion.
5,000 more seats.
We haven't used the first 4,000.
But this time we'll "drive adoption."
Adoption means mandatory training.
Training means a 45-minute webinar no one watches.
But completion will be tracked.
Completion is a metric.
Metrics go in dashboards.
Dashboards go in board presentations.
Board presentations get me promoted.
I'll be SVP by Q3.
I still don't know what Copilot does.
But I know what it's for.
It's for showing we're "investing in AI."
Investment means spending.
Spending means commitment.
Commitment means we're serious about the future.
The future is whatever I say it is.
As long as the graph goes up and to the right.
.@Phillies come back on CHW, 9-5. Nola had no command & blew 3 leads: 4.1IP 6H 5ER 4BB 4K 0 HR. Mayza, Alvarado, Kerkering not sharp. Bowlan excellent for 2IP.
Phils: 5 for 11 RISP
Marchan, Marsh go ahead HRs
Bohm, Marchan, Marsh 2RBI, Harper, Crawford 1RBI
Season: 35-30 9.5GB
.@Phillies lost to CHW, 6-3. Painter was awful: 4.2IP 8H 6ER 2BB 4K. Gave up 4R T1 on 42P. Phils got down 6-0 T3. Relief pitchers were excellent.
Bullpen game for CHW, but they got 15 Ks.
HRs by Bohm, Marsh, 1B by Garcia drove in the 3 Phillies runs.
Season: 34-30 9.5GB.
.@Phillies edge CHW, 8-6. Luzardo gave up 3 HRs, let Sox back in game. 6IP 7H 5ER 2BB 2K. Bowlan gave up tying R after E1T. Duran: Sv 15.
Schwarber 4 for 5 (4 1B), go ahead run
Marsh 2R HR
Garcia HR
Bohm 2 for 4 2RBI
>10H 2x in row
25-10 under Mattingly.
Season: 34-29 8.5GB
Now that @Phillies have swept 6 games in 11 days vs very strong Padres team, consider:
- Phillies only scored 22 runs across 6 games
- Padres did not score with RISP until T7 of game 5 … and not again for the rest of series.
- Mason Miller did not appear in any of the games.
