I was on active duty when September 11th happened. During the totality of the experience that day, this one thing stands out for me. This one thing.

Aircraft hitting buildings, fire, flame, catastrophic building collapse, calamity, tragedy, fear, mass death. Immeasurable in its emotional scale.

But this one thing stands out among all that, very clearly for me.

The cancerous perversion of Faith known as Islam forced my countrymen to choose: leap from a building or burn to death.

Husbands & Wives, Fathers & Mothers, Sons and Daughters, choose: Defenestration or Immolation.

We should offer Islam the same choices.
