@MasonJack75333@TrevorSpradlin5@PaulTassi Pretty sure tassi (who apparently all of you think speaks 100% truth) said that there were more devs on d2 until march of this year (after marathon launched) so idk what to tell you
@DeathsRegalia@ConquerThyEnemy@PaulTassi “Very few players don’t own a d2 expansion” literally how do you know that? Do you have their sales numbers?
You don’t, and that’s been my ENTIRE point from the beginning. Sony saw D2 financials and marathon projections and picked marathon for a reason (we don’t know the reason)
@ConquerThyEnemy@PaulTassi My point this whole time has been: we have only heard rumors. Sony has experience in running a business. They obviously have a reason for backing marathon and for ending d2. Therefore, it’s clear we don’t know that reason. Therefore, it’s unfair to compare the two exactly
@ConquerThyEnemy@PaulTassi Both these are numbers that Paul’s “source” said, not an official number. It also might include costs that overlap for marathon and d2.
Again, this comes back to - we don’t know. The number was just said by Paul Tassi. We know nothing else about it, including if it’s legitimate
@123_relentlesss@PaulTassi “From where I’m standing” you are standing OUTSIDE the building where the financial analysis takes place
oh my god you’re so close to getting it
@PaulTassi Replies prove that reading comprehension is at all time lows.
All I’m saying is that “more players” does not STRICTLY mean “better business decision”.
Crazy that I have to explain that to people, but everyone’s a fuckin expert on everything nowadays I guess
@PaulTassi I agree that the time of day argument is dumb, but still - why post charts? All it shows is:
1. Destiny 2 sold more than marathon (already known)
2. Destiny 2 is gaining players cause of EoL (also known)
Does marathon ABSOLUTELY need to be as popular as D2 to be a success?
@123_relentlesss@PaulTassi You do not know the definition of success for marathon. You can infer it, but you don’t know if it’s true.
Once again my point is missed by people insisting they know everything about bungies balance sheet
@ConquerThyEnemy@PaulTassi Didn’t like 80% of people stop buying the expansions after TFS? Like the drop off was insane no? Financial projections probably estimated that D2 sales would go down (cause they already did).
You also missed my point: profit is sales - expenses. Maybe marathon is cheaper.
@ConquerThyEnemy@PaulTassi I mean, maybe it actually is more profitable. D2 is free, each marathon player paid $40 (or at least will if they want to play next week).
Also maybe marathon is more maintainable? Cheaper to maintain? Easier to scale?
Once again - not an apples to apples comparison.
@ConquerThyEnemy@PaulTassi And the reason to compare them is…?
This doesn’t answer the question. Why compare these games? They are fundamentally different and appeal to different audiences
@Sizzins_ Destiny was afforded the opportunity of a chance to win people over, which it did. Tons of people have had a hate boner for marathon (for complete bs reasons I might add) for 3 years before it came out. Those are not the same thing lol
@AutumnWindLuna@GameRant And hating the game into its death on the internet will fix this?
If marathon had been successful (>100k players on your beloved steam charts) would that have changed anything? Devs still would have been reallocated.
You guys just like to complain when others have fun
