Updates from the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) on what we are doing to make London even safer. NB - This account is not monitored 24/7.
Today, I laid a wreath in Hyde Park to honour the 52 innocent people killed on 7 July 2005.
We honour those injured, the families who carry the loss, and the heroic emergency responders who ran towards danger that day.
London remembers. You will never be forgotten.
City Hall funding means more officers on the streets in the West End and hotspots across London working in partnership with retailers to crack down on prolific offenders and make London a no-go zone for shoplifting and antisocial behaviour and build a safer London for everyone.
And on Thursday we joined representatives from London Business Improvement Districts in a roundtable discussion on our work to support and protect London’s economic development.
Strengthening partnerships to tackle retail crime has been top of the agenda this week for me and Deputy Mayor for Business & Growth @howarddawber.
On Wednesday we joined the @metpoliceuk & @the_brc to discuss reporting, digital evidence & game changing Live Facial Recognition.
Backed with record @MOPACLdn funding, the MPS ASB Action Plan commits to closer working with councils, housing providers, transport partners and communities to solve complex problems. Good to join @MPSRedbridge, @RedbridgeLive & @IlfordBID today to see this approach in action.
I’ve long called for stronger enforcement for perpetrators of violence against women and girls.
I support the Government’s move towards extending sentences for those who kill their partner to 25 years.
Justice must be delivered for victims and their families.
In remembrance of Makram Ali and all those affected by the horrific Finsbury Park terror attack, Deputy Mayors Kaya Comer-Schwartz and Debbie Weekes-Bernard laid a wreath to mark the anniversary yesterday.
London continues to stand united against hatred and division.
Yesterday, the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime @KayaJunction and our CEO, Rena Lalgie, attended the @metpoliceuk Annual Ceremony of Remembrance to honour officers and staff who lost their lives in the line of duty. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
What is a #childfirst approach to policing? It means recognising that a child in trouble is a child who needs specialist support. A pilot, funded by MOPAC, @metpoliceuk put this into practice. Read the evaluation here: https://t.co/nzZ9rv2C6h
Today marks #worldelderabuse day. Sadly, abuse of older people impacts many across the UK every year, often behind closed doors. Organisations like @wearehourglass_ are working to change that. Everyone, no matter their age, deserves to be and feel safe.

Met officers are working hard to arrest thieves and dismantle criminal gangs, leading to 13,000 fewer phone thefts in London over the last year.
Thanks to my record funding, we’ve also doubled officers in the West End - cutting phone thefts there by 50%.
Mobile phone crime won’t be solved by policing alone. It also needs coordinated action from industry.
Having already seen the advanced security features introduced by Google and Samsung, I welcome the new agreement between Apple and the Met to protect mobile phone users.

Good to be in West Ealing and Southall with @deirdrecostigan, @EalingCouncil and @EalingMPS to discuss partnership action to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the area. We've seen encouraging progress and continue to work together to make Ealing safer for all.
Violence & exploitation have no place in our city. That’s why we've invested almost £500,000 in a new pilot across Camden, Islington, Enfield, and Haringey to safeguard victims of cuckooing, hold perpetrators to account and make London’s communities safer for everyone.
On the sixth anniversary of the tragic murders of Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, we remember them and renew our efforts to make sure women and girls are safe - and feel safe - day and night, wherever they are in London and across the country.
The investigation into the murders showed that there was still a lot more to do to reform the police and rebuild trust. I’m determined to build on the progress that has been made and continue to make London safer for everyone.
