Honored and deeply grateful to receive the Higashi-Kuninomiya International Culture Award.
This meaningful recognition reflects the strong and enduring friendship between Israel and Japan, and the importance of promoting political and cultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation between our two nations.
My sincere thanks to the organizers for this great honor, and to all those dedicated to strengthening the ties between Israel and Japan.
Another PR flotilla has come to an end. All 430 activists have been transferred to Israeli vessels and are making their way to Israel, where they will be able to meet with their consular representatives.
This flotilla has once again proved to be nothing more than a PR stunt at the service of Hamas.
Israel will continue to act in full accordance with international law and will not permit any breach of the lawful naval blockade on Gaza.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, Canada, the European Union, Australia, and several other countries, with many of its senior officials also under sanctions and terrorist designations.
Japan previously imposed sanctions on senior IRGC officials between 2007 and 2013. Today, approximately 12 individuals remain under Japanese sanctions, including former IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami and former Deputy Commander Morteza Rezaei.
I call on Japan to impose sanctions on Ahmad Vahidi, who bears responsibility for the murder of hundreds of Israeli and American civilians, the violent suppression of protests in Iran, and brutal actions against the Iranian people themselves.
We also call for the expansion of personal sanctions against additional senior IRGC officials, in line with measures already taken by the United States, the European Union, UK, Argentina, Switzerland, Australia, and other partners.
We wish to express our appreciation to Japan for its principled and unwavering stance against terrorism.
@usembassytokyo
Last week, I had the honor of meeting with senior members of the LDP serving in key positions within the party’s committees.
The meeting included a productive discussion on recent international developments in the Middle East.
Regarding Iran, I expressed appreciation for Japan’s unequivocal position that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, for its condemnation of Iran’s indiscriminate attacks against its neighbors, and for its call to uphold freedom of navigation in accordance with international law and to ensure the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
On Lebanon, I reiterated Israel’s interest in direct dialogue that could lead to peace between the two countries. I also stressed that Lebanon has effectively been taken hostage by Hezbollah, an organization that serves Iranian interests rather than those of the Lebanese people. I called on Japan to demand the immediate disarmament of Hezbollah.
Regarding Hamas, I emphasized that the organization continues to reject disarmament and remains committed to terrorism and violence, in direct contradiction to President Trump’s peace plan, which has received broad international support. I called on Japan to demand the disarmament of Hamas and the full demilitarization of the Gaza Strip as part of the implementation of President Trump’s peace plan for the Middle East.
I also called on Japan to push the Palestinian Authority for the comprehensive implementation of the reforms to which it has committed itself under the peace plan and to the international community. These reforms are indispensable to advancing stability in the Middle East.
At the conclusion of the meeting, we agreed to continue strengthening cooperation between our two countries.
Today, as Israel marks Holocaust Remembrance Day, I felt compelled to speak out.
I have sent a formal letter to TV Asahi regarding concerning remarks made by Mr. Toru Tamagawa on “Morning Show,” suggesting that Mr. Jared Kushner should be excluded from diplomatic negotiations because he is Jewish.
Mr. Kushner’s role in diplomacy has nothing to do with his religion. He has contributed significantly to advancing peace in the region, including through the Abraham Accords, and brings valuable experience and expertise to such efforts.
Peace efforts must be based on experience and good faith - not identity or religion.
There is no place for discrimination or antisemitism.
Especially today, we must stand firmly against any form of hatred and exclusion.
I trust TV Asahi will address this matter with the seriousness it deserves.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is Iran’s regime’s global engine of terror - responsible for attacks against Israelis, Americans, Europeans, and others, while brutally repressing its own people at home.
The United States, Canada, Australia, Argentina, the European Union and its member states have already designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization - and many others have imposed extensive sanctions on the organization, its leadership, and its global networks.
We call on Japan, a nation committed to stability, the rule of law, and international security, not to remain on the sidelines and to act in line with other countries by designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization and imposing targeted personal sanctions on its commanders, officials, and operatives.
The IRGC is a terrorist organization. It has no other definition - and it must be treated accordingly.

Ambassador @GiladCohen_ addressed the General Meeting of the Japan-Israel Parliamentary Friendship League.
He expressed appreciation for Japan’s consistent position that Iran must never have nuclear weapons, underscoring the risks highlighted by the case of North Korea.
He addressed Iran’s military nuclear program, ballistic missile development, its support for terrorism, destabilizing activities, human rights violations, and the risks posed to global trade routes and freedom of navigation, including the Strait of Hormuz.
He also noted the strong potential for enhanced Israel-Japan security cooperation.
We thank Chairman Gen Nakatani for his leadership and continued support of Israel-Japan relations
Given the current circumstances and the heightened security protocols for incoming mail, no such envelope has been received.
Rather than rushing to accuse Israel, we would appreciate clarification as to whether a similar protest was also addressed to the Iranian Embassy, whose government deliberately targets civilian population centers with missile fire.
We would further encourage the inquirers to direct their concerns to the Iranian Ambassador in Tokyo, whose country continues both to attack civilians and to pursue nuclear capabilities. By contrast, Israel and the United States act solely against legitimate military targets.

It’s honestly beyond me how someone who claims to defend the truth of the Communist Party across X (a platform blocked to the Chinese public, but never mind) feels comfortable spreading fake news and incitement so recklessly.
Israeli soldiers did not abuse this child, nor any other Palestinian child. This is yet another complete fabrication straight out of Hamas’ propaganda playbook.
Israel, as a sovereign state, legislates its own laws.
Unbelievably, the European Union is intervening in the midst of a sovereign state’s legislative process.
Israel is facing murderous and brutal terrorism on a scale unmatched anywhere in the world.
Palestinian terrorism is fueled by payments from the Palestinian Authority, as well as by abductions that lead to shortened prison terms for terrorists.
Israeli law already permits capital punishment, and under the proposed new law, discretion over its application will remain with the courts.
EU double standards: as always, the EU obsessively singles out Israel - we haven’t seen a tweet like this when it comes to capital punishment in the United States, Japan, India, Egypt, or other countries.
We strongly welcome Japan’s condemnation of Iran’s dangerous aggression.
As Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi noted, Iranian attacks have targeted diplomatic facilities as well as civilian and energy infrastructure, causing civilian casualties and threatening regional stability and vital global shipping routes.
We also welcome Japan’s clear position that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons - a principle essential to global security.
We thank Japan for its firm and principled stance.
Tanaka Terumi has attacked Israel and the United States over our just war against the murderous Iranian regime.
It is astonishing that he condemns strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities - facilities whose sole purpose is to destroy the State of Israel. Iranian leaders have repeated this goal dozens of times.
I have never heard him condemn Iran’s four decades of pursuing nuclear weapons, its chants of “Death to Israel” and “Death to America,” or its direction of terror since 1979 against Western citizens, Israeli civilians, and Jewish communities worldwide.
He did not condemn the mass killing of Iranian civilians by the ayatollahs’ brutal regime. Now he condemns Israel’s and America’s right of self-defense.
He should be ashamed.
It is good that Japan’s government thinks differently. Japan has condemned Iran and its terror activities against Israel, the United States, and countries in the Middle East, and has made clear that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons and must halt its missile program.
Israel will continue to act decisively. We look forward to the day when the Iranian people take their destiny into their own hands, overthrow the regime of terror, and live in freedom.
We extend our hand in peace to the oppressed Iranian people.
Israel is confronting the Ayatollah regime in Iran to remove an existential threat - its nuclear program, expanding ballistic missile arsenal, and terror proxies.
We judged that inaction is more dangerous: Iran has buried its capabilities underground while accelerating its ambitions and destabilizing the region.
Operation “Roaring Lion,” conducted with the United States, targets regime assets to reduce their ability to harm - not only to defend Israel, but to strengthen regional stability and uphold the rules-based international order and the international non-proliferation regime.
We welcome Japan’s clear statement that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons - a principle vital to global security.
We thank the United States for its steadfast partnership and deeply value Japan’s commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity.
