TPS was never meant to be a permanent immigration policy. Our broken immigration system needs lasting solutions from Congress, not endless temporary extensions.

But Congress created TPS for extraordinary circumstances when it is unsafe for people to return home. That is exactly what Venezuela is facing today after the devastating earthquakes.

The law is clear. The Administration should redesignate TPS for Venezuelans already in the United States for 18 months while Venezuela recovers.

That's not expanding TPS beyond its purpose. It's applying the law exactly as Congress intended.

La Casa Blanca tiene que reconocer una realidad: no podemos sacar del país, de un día para otro, a cientos de miles de personas. Eso incluye a quienes tienen TPS, a los cubanos con I-220A y a muchos otros que hoy permanecen en un limbo legal.

Sencillamente, hoy no es seguro devolverlos a sus países. No es una opción.

Por eso seguiré impulsando soluciones que restauren el orden en nuestro sistema migratorio, hagan cumplir la ley y ofrezcan una respuesta seria y permanente a un problema que Washington ha postergado durante demasiado tiempo.

La ley es clara. El Congreso incluyó específicamente los terremotos como fundamento para otorgar el Estatus de Protección Temporal porque entendió que hay desastres que hacen imposible que una persona regrese de manera segura a su país.

Venezuela está viviendo esa realidad en este momento.

La Administración debe hacer lo correcto y redesignar el TPS para los venezolanos que ya se encuentran en Estados Unidos. Enviar a cientos de miles de ellos de regreso a un país devastado por un terremoto catastrófico, después de años de represión política, colapso económico y crisis humanitaria, simplemente no es una opción.

LA CONTRADICCIÓN DE LOS ZURDOS

Lo que está pasando en las redes sociales es un ejemplo perfecto de la hipocresía progresista.

Veo en todos lados a venezolanos festejando la caída del dictador narcoterrorista Maduro pero también veo a todos los comunistas que viven en democracias occidentales (que son cada vez menos) llorando por el innegable fracaso de su ideología, que derivó en una dictadura asesina.

Los progresistas dicen amar la democracia, pero lloran cuando cae un dictador. Eso los pinta de cuerpo entero. Dicen defender al pueblo, pero odian verlo festejar su libertad (o lo que a ellos no les gusta).

Además, el ex-dictador Maduro, que ahora pasará el resto de sus días en una cárcel norteamericana por haber sido el jefe de una organización narcoterrorista que dejó al 90% de los venezolanos en la pobreza, obligando a 8 millones de personas a escapar de su país para no morir de hambre y que para mantenerse en el poder se robó las elecciones, secuestró a Nahuel Gallo, un ciudadano argentino, y lo tiene desaparecido desde entonces.

Pero claro, los cipayos somos nosotros, los que defendemos a los argentinos, los que defendemos a la libertad y a la democracia.

Pero eso se acabó. Basta. No toleramos más las psicopateadas de los que arruinaron no sólo a nuestro país, sino a toda la región, con ideas socialistas y prácticas políticas dignas del fascismo más rancio.

Delcy Rodríguez and the core of the regime’s leadership are negotiating with the United States as we speak. This is not a sudden pivot. It is the result of a conclusion reached in Washington over months: the U.S. does not believe that María Corina Machado and the opposition have the operational capacity to seize power in Venezuela because they do not control, or meaningfully fracture, the military. If they did, power would have shifted immediately after the 2024 presidential election. It did not.

For a long period, U.S. officials, including Marco Rubio, were in constant communication with Machado and her team. They were asked repeatedly for proof of a concrete plan, not just to win power symbolically, but to retain it in practice: chain of command, military alignment, institutional control, day-after governance. The answers were consistently evasive, justified by security concerns, but never substantiated. At that point, from the U.S. government’s perspective, the opposition ceased to look like a viable transition mechanism and began to look like a political wager with no enforcement arm.

The plan now on the table is for Delcy Rodríguez to stabilize the country with U.S. backing and then call for general elections. This is not framed as an endorsement of the regime, but as a containment and transition strategy. Washington is explicit about one thing: this is not a partnership of equals. The United States is running the process, the lines are being managed through Rubio, and the leverage is entirely asymmetric. Delcy is the instrument, not the center of gravity.

U.S. officials also assess that Delcy’s harsh public rhetoric today was aimed inward, at the chavista base, not outward. That messaging is understood as domestic signaling. Nevertheless, as of now, negotiations with the United States are ongoing as we speak.
