@SenClaireCelsi Tragic. AEAs are an incredible community resource for any child - public school or private attendees, and even kids too young for school. Johnston's AEA got my 18-month-old from nonverbal to acing language arts in time for school. Every child deserves this help!
@ChuckGrassley Where you been, Senator? His slogan was literally about making things like the past. There's no future plan except to make himself richer.
@Rushthewriter He thinks parents should handle their kids by getting them to professionals like therapists ... but then not listen to the professionals? Oooh, boy, they have to bend over backward to justify their stances. Parental rights, but only if the parents think like them.

This video of a child firing his unsecured gun led to the arrest of a Columbus man, making it the first case involving the city's recently-passed secure storage ordinance: https://t.co/A1ld7QeEDC
Ohio’s new permitless carry law strips all gun safety training requirements. #ohleg
My family is not safe. My son has been taken on the gov's orders, and I've had to send my husband and daughter out of state for their safety.
THIS is the reality of living in DeSantis' Florida.
There is no freedom here. Only retaliatory rule by a fascist who wishes to be king
@Rushthewriter Oh, honey. Bless her heart. She too ignorant to know the difference between gossip and facts, or SNAP and free/reduced lunch. Can't imagine the bloated ego it takes to walk up to a mic and say these things without checking to make sure they're right.
At bedtime my 7-yr-old begged me to promise she wouldn’t have nightmares about guns tonight.
I promised — and then whispered “puppies” and “cupcakes” and “bikes” in her ear until she fell asleep.
It was a lie. Every day is another nightmare we are too selfish to solve.
"When multiple bullets from an AR-15 strike one body, they cause a cascade of catastrophic damage.
"This is the trauma witnessed by first responders — but rarely, if ever, seen by the public or the policymakers who write gun laws."
THIS is last year's Christmas card from Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican who represents the district that Covenant School is in in Nashville. #tnleg
@LauraRBelin Brad Zaun wrote the playbook for suburban republicans. Say one thing at the door and on the pamphlet and website, embrace a wholly different list of priorities at the Capitol while most people aren’t watching. Looking forward to his new district kicking him to the curb.
Maddi Sieck, daughter of Rep. Dave Sieck, speaking out in an LTE in the Glenwood O-T against recent Iowa legislative attacks on our LGBTQIA+ community members.
My daughter's class of Covid-kindergartners (now in 2nd grade) are fighting up an uphill battle to catch up with reading. That's not even addressing Iowa's abysmal response to helping dyslexic kids. WTF are we doing with this BS at the Capitol.
As a teacher, @MDonahueforIA makes an important point during debate on the Governor’s book-banning bill:
“I wish I was standing here today talking about things that are going to help kids learn how to read, not how we're going to prevent kids from reading.” #ialegis
Super excited that the new Director of the Iowa Department of Education has (checks notes) ZERO experience in a classroom or a school of any kind. No, really, thanks to all of you who voted for Ms. Reynolds.
