Cancer-related strokes are difficult to manage, synonym of bad prognosis and still poorly understood, which is why I did my clinical PhD on this exciting topic.
It is now published online, check it out!😉: https://t.co/MXBX4F0WMR

Special Report by @ShadiYaghi2 et al.: The ISPS25 classification system creates a new framework to understand #stroke etiology and permit targeted treatments and rational randomized trial design for various ischemic stroke subtypes. #AHAJournals#WSC2025 https://t.co/YhBlK2WwcX
The stroke field had major developments since 1993 when the TOAST criteria were proposed. We need move on to a different system that incorporates new mechanisms/tools/testing and standardizes the minimum workup. Introducing ISPS25 #stroke#WSC25#meded https://t.co/Tv3xYXBznX
🔊 Exciting DO-IT Trial Update!🔊
📈 🌍 The trial continues to expand, with 23 sites actively recruiting across Europe and 30 patients enrolled so far!
👏 A big thank you to everyone contributing!
💉🧑⚕️Recruit. Care. Cure. DO-IT!
We have successfully reached target enrollment 🎉 A huge THANK YOU to all patients, their families, participating centers & investigators for their work 💿
We thank the Lisbon team 🇵🇹 for including the 156th patient @Diana_A_Sousa 🙏

The latest editorial of the IJS addresses the important topic of occult cancers in stroke and discusses our findings on right-left shunts in stroke patients with cancer. I have heard that validation studies are underway. Looking forward to it! @IntJStroke

One step closer, but still no clear answer regarding the optimal secondary prevention for strokes in patients with active cancer. When will a large scale clinical trial be conducted, and what should be the design? https://t.co/KoNGg9trap @StrokeBern
📢Exciting news📢
28 trial sites in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium have received regulatory approval through CTIS!
The first trial sites in Germany+Belgium are now recruiting. Many additional trial sites have been submitted for approval!
Preventing Atherosclerosis: Time to Rethink the Starting Line
1️⃣ Atherosclerosis begins in teens & 20s, waiting till 40s is too late.
2️⃣ 10 year risk scores underestimate young adults with high Apob & family history.
3️⃣ Heart attack risk is cumulative, total “cholesterol years” & “pressure years” matter more than snapshots.
4️⃣ Early Apob lowering offers far greater lifetime benefit than late treatment.
5️⃣ Prevention must shift to lifetime risk, selective imaging & early lifestyle action.

@BoNorrving@DavidSeiffge@GreenJournal@StrokeBern Dear Prof. Norrving, unfortunately, our study was not designed to evaluate an adapted therapy in the presence of focal hypoperfusion. Increasing the duration of DAPT or treating ipsilateral not high grade stenosis more aggresively in these patients may be an idea for a trial.
❓Should Perfusion-weighted Imaging (PWI) be part of the acute TIA workup❓
💡Our new study demonstrates a higher stroke rate in TIA patients with focal hypoperfusion on PWI MRI, particularly when in the expected TIA territory💡

Soon we will ALL be giving IV TNK to stroke patients on DOACS.
The drumbeats are pounding.
Here is yet another comparative effectiveness study showing lower ICH and better mRS outcomes among DOAC pts given lytics compared to those who did not.
