A name steeped in Rochester history❗️
Morrie Silver, @RocRedWings director of communications, carries on the multi-generational legacy of his namesake grandfather who saved baseball in the Flower City: https://t.co/5CrvCbpyqv
This is unequivocally the most important initiative that'll come from our new Performance Center...
Not only are we focused on making baseball training with data more accessible to athletes in our community, but we're also FULLY committed to showcasing the careers that can exist in the game, utilizing this type of information.
And we want to help show them how to get there.
🚨We're teaming up with @HitTraxOfficial to host our first Hitting Expo for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester!
We’re excited to showcase how to train like the pros...and explore the careers that power the game, from player development to sports science to analytics and beyond...all while using the same tools trusted by MLB's brightest stars.

📅 February 27, 1957 – The Day Rochester Saved Its Team
🗣️ “I just couldn’t imagine youngsters growing up in years to come not being able to see professional baseball in Rochester.” – Morrie Silver
On this day in 1957, Morrie Silver and 8,221 others saved baseball in Rochester.
When the St. Louis Cardinals announced they would no longer field a farm team in Rochester, the community faced the unthinkable—the loss of its beloved Red Wings. But Morrie Silver refused to let that happen. He launched a community stock drive, rallying local fans, businesses, and leaders in what would become known as the 72-Day Miracle.
On February 27, 1957, Silver, the majority stockholder, signed the check that secured the future of baseball in Rochester (pictured, left). His leadership and vision ensured that the Red Wings remained a cornerstone in Rochester, creating a place where generations could come together, build lifelong memories, and take pride in their community.
❤️ 67 years later, his vision lives on.
Checking in from my 25th MLB Winter Meetings!
One of my favorite weeks of the year.
From seeing the familiar faces, to finding the best hotel sushi, the #WinterMeetings are one of the best things about the baseball industry.
And LOVE seeing our former players here who are now front office executives and field staff members as they continue to progress into the next stages of their careers. So fun to see.
…And makes me feel old.
