Excellent news that the @GovtOfIndia_ has approved a proposal to ratify the Hong Kong Convention on Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. Accession from India an important step towards the Convention's entry into force and for better #shiprecycling worldwide.

Responsible shiprecycling needs international regulation. The Hong Kong Convention should enter into force as soon as possible. We have first hand witnessed significant improvements in Alang. Responsible shiprecycling is an important part of circular economy.

- protecting marine species from plastic becoming their food

- protecting the fragile ecosystem of ocean from the onslaught of plastic pollution

- then a clean beach.
