The President and the Governor are the only two constitutional offices who take an oath different from that of the Vice-President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister, Members of Parliament, Members of Assembly, and other functionaries like Judges.

All of us — the Vice-President, the Prime Minister, and others — take oath to abide by the Constitution, but the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Governor take oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

Thus, their oath is not only very distinct, but it also obligates them with the onerous task of preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution.

WATCH | #Axiom4Mission lifts off from NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, US. The mission is being piloted by India's IAF Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla. The crew is travelling to the International Space Station (ISS) on a new SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on the company's Falcon 9 rocket.
