My newest single - Sit Back - is one of the recent results of this approach. I was trying not to think in terms of chords or tonal centers at all. Yet, I squeezed a healthy amount of counterpoint in this piece, and I think it's just fun.

One of my long-term goals in music is to discard tonality in an approachable manner. Usually, I’m taking inspiration from modernist techniques of the late 19th / early 20th century. I think many composers of that time had a healthy balance of experimentation vs. accessibility.
