Sure it may stop people from becoming new victims but it also stops innocent communities at the same time + any evidence needed to search for a crime is inaccessible to authorities.

I hate how this happened right when I started reporting that one person and got them banned. Banning Discord will massively hurt investigation efforts into cybercrimes.

Discord users in the Philippines may have trouble connecting to the app.

This started after the CICC warned Discord and Reddit that they could face restrictions unless they appointed local representatives.

Both companies responded. CICC then extended the deadline.

Discord has not been officially banned nationwide. However, many Globe and DITO users report connection errors. This points to a block at the internet-provider level, most likely DNS filtering, not a full government shutdown.

What users report works for now: switch to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1), then restart the app.

The whole incident left a mental scar. I am not sure if I will be able to recover properly. I try to find ways to distract myself but the guilt over not doing a background check before responding has gotten me bad.

Looking at how this was written, I see why it was easy for me to fall for this tweet. Whenever something is written like this, the meaning of 👀 is typically “someone wanting to learn about the drama” but knowing the user now, there was definitely ulterior motives to the writing.

When I first saw this tweet, I originally assumed that it was just a person who wanted to know what not to type online (I am autistic which tends to cause me to miss the context or intent of something). This user has made similarly worded tweets but I had no idea what the context

Also I remember the user promoting using a messaging app called Signal which has been noted in app store reviews to have a bunch of bad activity.
