Please back the Trust and a greener future for Mount Florida by objecting to private residential development on our open space ๐

@AnBunBeagbhoy Thank you! Not formal minutes but there will be a summary of discussion and the general mood of the room (short version already up on our fb page)
@adambenmakhlouf Sadly the site was not communally owned, it was private. However the owners refused even to engage with the Trust to discuss sale to the community despite repeated requests.
@HampdenPark, @MoFloCoCo
The residents of Mount Florida have spent the afternoon seeing their gardens and streets used as urinals (and worse) by visiting football supporters. What steps will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen at future matches?
The Trust will continue to stand for the protection and preservation of the full site to benefit the whole community. We are confident of the support of the community for this!
Meanwhile you can help us by buying or sharing details of our calendar!

Bowling Club update: the Trust recently wrote to MFBC President&Members to request negotiation on the future of the Club.
MFBC held a Special General Meeting on 10/10. They confirmed have an exclusive contract w/ Noah, and so they have no interest in contact with the Trust.
Noah are overhauling their design to try again. Revised plans will be presented to the Club to approve in the next few weeks.
To overcome the refusal reasons for their first application, Noah must show consultation w the community. No such consultation has been made, yet.
We will continue to act in the best interests of the community, knowing we have such strong local support behind us.

MFCT in the news: an item on the Glasgow Times website initially mistakenly suggested that the Trust would be willing to work with the developer. This was not correct.
MFCT remains willing to negotiate with the Bowling Club to find a way to secure the site for community use.
We stand firmly by our commitment to save the green space and community facility. As such there is no mutually agreeable plan with the developer, whose interest lies in private residential development.
@KateHollands1 The Reporter has received all the documents for consideration and a decision is expected after 18 May. No cause for concern that we know of, just need hope and patience ๐
We want to open the whole building to the community, create active spaces to be used and make the green space thriving and welcoming for everyone. Thanks @nolesserpanda for bringing the images to life!
The Club's present owners are determined that since they couldn't run it as a going concern, the only alternative for this green space is to demolish the vintage Club house and build flats on the greens. We think that shows a spectacular lack of imagination!
