Our Mourne Wall Restoration Project Team were delighted to guide the BBC News team to a chilly Slieve Bernagh earlier this week where repair work is underway. The current Phase Two of the Mourne Wall Restoration Project got underway in August 2022
On the Mourne Way, a varied, two-day, 23.4 mile walk from the coast at Newcastle, across the edge of the Mourne Mountains, and back to the sea at Rostrevor on the southern edge of the range. On view are the tors of Hen Mountain #FootpathFriday#countydown
WRACK & THE MOURNE COAST
Mill Bay near Greencastle contains the remains of one of the most extensive stone wrack beds in Ireland. You can see the long parallel banks of stone which were placed on the foreshore to encourage seaweed to grow. Farmers harvested it for fertiliser.
