In a conversation hosted by MoveOn + Spolitics, in partnership with Detroit Action, Jemele Hill asked Abdul El-Sayed to respond to the critique that with his populist messages, he does not directly focus on Black people: "Judge me not only by my words, judge me by my actions."
Abdul El-Sayed on corporate money out of politics: "Think about that $300 million dollars, if you just took that money and spent it in Michigan, instead of spending it to beat a senator from Michigan who you're afraid is actually going to stand up to your corporation."
Abdul El-Sayed on taxing billionaires: "The whole point of this tax system is that you can have power over other people. And I don't think you should be able to buy that."
Tonight in Detroit, Jemele Hill asked Abdul El-Sayed a question from the community:
"How does a Black policy agenda inform your work in the community as a doctor?"
This past Saturday was a reminder that people power reaches far beyond big cities and traditional political strongholds. In communities across the country, people are making their voices heard and showing what's possible when we come together.
At the height of the largest early vote effort in American history, with nearly 3,000 events taking place this weekend, Meta suspended the No Kings Coalition
We are going to win, and we are going to keep organizing.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: No Kings organizer Ezra Levin is SOUNDING THE ALARM after Meta suspended the movement’s Instagram account during massive nationwide protests.
LEVIN: “This is strikingly reminiscent of what we saw in Brazil… We might be seeing something similar from Meta in our country right now.”
“We're not gonna stop organizing against this regime. We're not gonna stop organizing against this regime's collaborators on the outside.”
We are with Rep. Ilhan Omar, and we will not tolerate political retaliation, racist attacks, or Islamophobic intimidation. Trump cannot bully or silence those who challenge his power. We will continue fighting alongside her and demanding accountability. https://t.co/BUgqGUpQMF
Representative @Ilhan Omar is a dedicated public servant and a true ally for working families, and Donald Trump has done nothing but use racist tropes and stereotypes to attack her.
Now, he’s abusing his power to physically intimidate and harass her.
Our tax dollars are being used to hunt down our neighbors. But Trump and Republicans in Congress refuse to fund health care. November 3rd can't come fast enough.
Breaking News: An ICE agent shot a man in New York City, according to two people familiar with the matter. The man was taken to a hospital, the police said. https://t.co/RsjiQiKTek
MoveOn members know where they stand, and they are ready to turn out in record numbers to take back Congress and hold him and Pete Hegseth accountable for this illegal war.
People in cities who did not vote for this president are not expendable - inviting a foreign country to strike and kill millions of them is traitorous and disqualifying. Will Republicans in Congress call out these disgusting comments or continue to look the other way?
We're proud to endorse @AngieNixon for U.S. Senate! With a new poll showing Angie neck-and-neck with her opponent in Florida, we're all in to elect a leader focused on affordability and working people.

Lots of Republicans are saying they want to see the war in Iran end, but their votes don't match.
Despite coming up short, we want to offer sincere thanks to @RepJayapal for leading the latest bicameral war powers effort and all who voted for it. https://t.co/pbn9kecdHz
Trump's choice to pick petty fights over addressing people's cost of living is why Americans are ready to turn out in record numbers in November to vote him and his useless Republicans out of office.
Trump knows that his failed policies are about to lose him control of Congress, so he's desperately trying to silence his critics and cling to power. Banning news organizations that challenge his propaganda won’t make groceries cheaper or help people afford health care.
Americans are fed up with the failures of this president and Republicans in Congress, and MoveOn will continue to mobilize members to vote early and in record numbers so Trump can’t get away with challenging the results of the election.
TONIGHT: The Supreme Court has ruled to block President Trump’s attempts to restrict mail-in voting.
Donald Trump may have failed this time, but this was still a clear attempt to sow doubt in our elections and lay the groundwork to contest the election if Republicans lose.
