Return home of truck obligation could lead to congestion at non-Schengen borders which could even more than double the current already high waiting time at some borders

Due to #MobilityPackage Return Home of Trucks, up to 29% of current truck drivers established in Eastern European countries could be displaced to other EU regions.

#MobilityPackage clearly not compatible with the ambition of the

The return home of trucks obligation will force thousands of drivers to navigate empty trucks back home, causing huge additional GHGs. This clearly runs counter the #EUGreenDeal.

@GraversenHC@EU_Commission These are substantiated findings by the European Commission's study on the return home of trucks obligation, not MovingEU opinion.
Impact assessment of #MobilityPackage has proved return home of trucks obligation runs counter #EUGreenDeal. Foreseeable additional CO2 emissions almost equals those reiterated by EU peripheral hauliers over past years
The analysis of the return obligation for trucks shows that in the scenario most likely to occur (simple market compliance) it would generate up to 1.9 million additional journeys, resulting in up to 2.9 million tonnes of additional CO2emissions in 2023.
We ๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐พ๐ฒ๐น๐ท๐ด๐ญ๐บ๐ต๐ฑ๐ฑ๐น๐ช๐ช๐ฑ๐ป kept repeating - #MobilityPackage drives #EU away from #GreenDeal. Now itโs confirmed. Thx @EU_Commission for impartial & professional assessment of #CO2 emissions. Letโs drive safe to #GreanDeal w/ #Mobility based on common sense! https://t.co/9r3ApMnX3L
โThe result of the vote is clear evidence of how profoundly divisive #MobilityPackage isโฆ We are extremely concerned that having this gulf deepened, EU peripheral hauliers will miss out on long term benefits of #SingleMarketโ - Lithuanian๐ฑ๐น hauliers association, Romas Austinskas
According to ๐ฑ๐น International Transport & Logistics Alliance TTLA, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria alone would emit an additional 3.2m tonnes of CO2๐ดper year under the new rules of #MobilityPackage | #EUGreenDeal

I voted against the #MobilityPackage. It is the first time in my 13 years career in the EP I am dealing with such a situation, in which the right to free movement of persons and services in the #EU is violated and the proper functioning of the common market is neglected.
Lithuanian President G.Nauseda backs the government's plans to contest the EU #MobilityPackage, a major reform of the bloc's road #transport sector approved by the EP, in the Court of Justice.
