Texas Tech can and should do all the things it is doing to support Brendan Sorsby's recovery — but I don't see why he HAS to play football games.
He can be in a structured environment, be at practice, & be around supportive teammates all without playing on Saturdays.
@PeteThamel Pete where does it state they intend to play him? It DOES NOT say that! It states they are more concerned with his recovery and having him in the community offers the best chance towards that. Nothing in there says he starts or plays! FFS.
Texas litigator here. Unless and until the Amarillo Court of Appeals or the Texas Supreme Court stays or dissolves the valid temporary injunction obtained by Brandon Sorsby, Texas Tech would be well within its right to take legal action against any entity—the Big XII Conference, the CFP, other universities—that attempts to “punish” Tech for complying with with the controversial-but-lawful TI. Sorsby has been reinstated by a lawful order from court of competent jurisdiction, and while Tech is not obligated to play Sorsby, it currently has the right to do so. And the NCAA’s interlocutory appeal of the TI order is unlikely to be resolved prior to the end of the college football season. Against this backdrop, any organization that attempts to step in for the NCAA to exclude Sorsby is inviting a lawsuit from Sorsby and/or Tech, with Tech taking the position that it is merely complying with the TI order and that it can’t be punished for doing so.
18 yr old red shirt freshman at @IndianaFootball - bet on his team. Where is the outrage then? @NCAA has software to check the kids phones for??? GAMBLING
Transfers to: @GoBearcatsFB: @ncaa knew then and so did Cinci - because of software. He becomes a superstar - no gambling reported. Where is the outrage @GeorgiaFootball ?
Now he’s at @TexasTechFB: He must be crucified and @NCAA can’t believe he’s saying he’s an addict.
Blame Tech if you want. But they are the ones who helped the kid out. If you’re pissed at Tech - you’re just hating the players we are getting. Sorsby never should have got to his 2nd semester freshman year. Never should have played a down at Cinci - @NCAA you are the problem.
Isn't outright stating your school won't schedule to play Texas Tech impeding injuctive relief per the Sorsby order? AD's at certain schools might want to seek legal guidance before spouting off to the media...
Watching some of the most historically corrupt schools in program history absolutely crash out over Texas Tech getting a good ruling has been..... something to witness
