Many (definitely not all) overseas Chinese I've encountered still believe in the CPC's propaganda & don't seek out information to verify facts which results in continued loyalty to the party. Obviously there will always be some form of criticism of policies but not of the party.

It seems to me that he initially wanted to merely visit his family & move at a later date. UK authorities have however acted in a way that will likely put him at risk upon return to Hong Kong & one must ask whether he will be allowed to leave Hong Kong after the UK gov's actions.

@krislc Not entirely sure how they operate in regards to frontline officers & their duties but many countries have an executive officer who needs to be involved & sign off on any decision. I think that is a necessity, especially in regards to B(NO) cases as this won't be the last time.

@krislc The concern, in my view, is the initial proclamation without proper review which leads to stress and anxiety for the applicant. I would assume a deportation wouldn't happen anyways given the obvious error that would have to go through a review before being finalised as an order.
