Notion switching models is the right move.
The real challenge isn't a model outage.
It's realizing how many layers of your work depend on systems you don't control.
AI provider. SaaS platform. Billing system. Payment method.
Most failures don't happen inside a single product anymore.
They happen between products.
Anthropic's Opus 4.7 and 4.8 models are experiencing degraded performance, which is causing a higher rate of failures for users selecting these models in Notion AI.
To mitigate impact, all Anthropic models have been disabled in the model picker and requests have been rerouted to alternative providers. Most users should now be able to continue using Notion AI with minimal disruption, though Anthropic-specific features remain unavailable.

Weekend thought:
Not all friction is bad UX.
Some friction is protection like a seatbelt.
Privacy protects what can be read.
Identity checks protect what can be moved.
Messaging apps → encryption is the gate.
Payment products → identity is the gate.
Passkeys and biometrics may feel like friction.
But removing the check does not remove the risk.
It simply moves the risk to the user.
Trust is not the fastest sign-up flow.
Trust protects you when something goes wrong.

Your bank: payment sent ✅
Vendor: nothing arrived ❌
Invoice: unpaid
Who's lying?
Cross-border payments bounce through banks, timezones, clearing windows. The other side doesn't see it until that's done.
That gap costs teams hours. Screenshots. Amount matching. Transaction IDs. Proving a payment that already happened.
Global work doesn't need more successful payments.
It needs visible ones.

@ApplesClubs Bill splitting is the easy part.
The bigger shift is where payments now live — inside chats, wallets, receipts, and everyday decisions.
Money is becoming conversational.
@dotkrueger 90 agents can build a lot in an hour. They can also create a lot of expensive wrong work if the spec is vague.
Specs need to be sharper.
Tasks need a trail.
Retries need limits.
Costs need context.
Someone still has to decide what is worth shipping.
@MetaMask The moment an agent can move real money, “good prompt hygiene” stops being enough.
Every transaction now needs full context: who, workflow, limits, approvals, and why.
Agents don’t need smarter answers. They need hard execution boundaries.
@edzitron This isn’t loser language.
It’s the industry finally admitting what every builder has been living for months: the real bill isn’t the model, it’s the uncontrolled swarm running 24/7 with zero guardrails.
Efficiency without governance was always going to end exactly like this.
@karankendre AI dev teams can now execute while everyone sleeps.
The new problem is managing the swarm.
Limits, approvals, spend context, and billing visibility need to sit inside the workflow before productivity turns into an uncontrolled bill.
@dreamsofcode_io Agent costs don’t always show up as token costs.
Sometimes the expensive part is what the agent triggers after the model responds: logs, retries, cloud calls, storage, alerts.
That’s why spend controls need to sit around the workflow, not only around the model.
AI coding tools are becoming cloud bills with a chat UI.
The expensive part is not always the seat.
It is the invisible trail of agent runs, retries, long sessions, and failed paths that nobody sees until the bill lands.
Caps help.
But visibility has to move closer to the workflow.
@AviiWeb3 The AI bill is becoming the new cloud bill.
The issue isn’t just how much teams use AI.
It’s whether anyone can tell:
who used it,
what triggered it,
which workflow it belonged to,
and whether it helped ship real work.
Usage without visibility gets expensive fast.
@omooretweets The gap closes when people stop having to learn the workflow.
They just describe the job.
The product figures out the steps, handles the context, and shows a result they can actually understand.
That’s the shift: from software you operate to work you can talk through.
This is the part most people miss.
A lot of Claude Code “cost” is really old context getting dragged around.
Bad attempts, stale files, dead ends, half-fixed logic.
The model keeps rereading yesterday’s mess while you’re trying to solve today’s bug.
Sometimes the cheapest upgrade is knowing when to rewind, compact, or clear.
@vibhu@solana The real shift isn’t stablecoins copying card rails.
It’s agents pushing payments from transaction approval to budgeted autonomy.
Once spend is delegated, the surface moves from checkout to controls:
limits, expiry, revocation, provenance, and readable billing context.
It’s a workday morning.
You open your laptop, ready to start with AI.
Then the billing screen freezes:
“Payment Failed.”
Which payment persona are you?
👹 A. The Retry Goblin
Clicks “Pay” 7 times and calls it troubleshooting.
⚖️ B. The Screenshot Lawyer
Saves every error code before opening a support ticket.
🧘 C. The Balance Philosopher
Balance is fine. Payment still declined. Questions the entire system.
👻 D. The Subscription Ghost
Only finds out renewal failed when the tool locks them out mid-workflow.

WhatsApp just added an incognito mode for AI chat.
The direction is right.
But for payment products, privacy is not only about what can be read.
It is about what can be touched, frozen, traced, or moved.
Encryption protects your messages.
Identity verification protects what can be moved.
Those are different problems.
They need different gates.
Not "can we see your messages?"
But: "are we certain this is actually you?"
A gate that knows what it's guarding.

No fear-mongering—just simple operational redundancy.
When traditional channels become highly selective, users need parallel paths.
As global payment dynamics shift, MPChat will keep delivering lighter, more practical ways to stay connected. 💫
Global payment rails are fragmenting at an accelerated pace. What used to be niche, alternative options are now moving to the center of the radar for cross-border users and digital consumers. 👇
🔥 HUGE: Cumulative volume on crypto-linked payment cards has hit a record $7.8B, with monthly volumes surging 230% since May 2025, per The Kobeissi Letter.
This is why virtual cards and compliant wallets are quietly becoming staples for cross-border teams, remote builders, and heavy subscription users.
A lighter, online-native Plan B isn't a niche experiment anymore.
It’s standard risk mitigation to keep your digital life uninterrupted.
