After the May elections - what now for working-class political representation? What role can trade union reps and activists play?

@EdmundGriffiths#Decisions are not for the likes of you, you might not make ones that are acceptable 😉. (Seriously, what a disgraceful slur on how a good labour movement branch meeting organises too!)
"Some corner of a foreign field".
Not in Flanders or even Gallipoli but here, hidden amongst some olives planted above a gully in the thorny hills of southern Skyros, lies the grave of Rupert Brooke. "A young Apollo ... magnificently unprepared for the long littleness of life"
Trade unionists must condemn the TUC's dangerous statement linking PIP to work - which will be used by a Labour government to support its efforts to cut spending on people with disabilities.

A working-class fight against Labour austerity can beat back Reform and the right

2026 will be remembered as the year that Britain’s existing political order finally fell apart.

@EdmundGriffiths A further factor is a long period of lack where trade unions have not taken national action - that makes it harder for TUSC's call for a union fightback to be understood. Hopefully the Left victories just announced in PCS - following that in Unite - can start to change that!
@EdmundGriffiths The factors in this set of results are largely objective ones arising from a particular set of circumstances. The idea that Socialist Party members don't know 'how' to win elections when factors are more in our favour is erroneous. For example: https://t.co/h6vxDdMCZS
@ChrisCorney1 Worth noting the low Reform vote in Bevois compared to the rest of the Southampton elections - disillusioned workers can be pulled to the Left away from the Right if a clear program is given. https://t.co/Vlcith1ZLU
@EdmundGriffiths What's also worth analysing is the low Reform vote in Bevois compared to the rest of the Southampton elections - disillusioned workers can be pulled to the Left away from the Right if a clear program is given. https://t.co/Vlcith1ZLU
@EdmundGriffiths All are factors - & all expected in advance. The #TUSC vote was always going to be squeezed as 'protest votes' went to the nationally known 'protest parties'. Bevois shows where TUSC was seen as having a chance, it could do well. Just think what a proper YP stand could have done.
Good Luck to Penny standing for @TUSCoalition in #Plungingron today, demanding councils fight – instead of just passing on cuts as other parties do – by organising a mass campaign to win the funding needed for jobs and services from central government!

As I said when councillors were boasting about getting #Tdf2027 in Cumbria whilst also admitting a council cuts crisis ... Who pays for the new tarmac??
