Best PD in a long time today at Caesar’s Palace in LVNV!
Hi, today I virtually WAITED IN LINE to be able to receive an EMAIL and the email means I *MIGHT* get a chance to PURCHASE TICKETS to go to a concert in 1.5 years that I went to 3 months ago.
Signs you may be part of a toxic school/trust cult:
Not questioning things that deep down you know you disagree with or are wrong
Feeling scared of stepping away from the corporate identity in any way
Consciously not doing anything in the classroom that doesn’t fit into the strict methodology, regardless of whether your professional self says ‘do it’
Feeling scared and sycophantic in equal measure towards leaders and authority figures
Changing yourself to suit the will of others
Thinking that everyone within the school/trust staff body thinks exactly the same way
Automating responses on social media to colleagues boosting them or the product regardless of content
Being constantly scared of failing and/or losing your job
Always seeking to become ‘better’ - within the accepted status quo model regardless of what ‘better’ means
Losing yourself and struggling to relate to yourself in the way you once did
Thinking that if you leave, your career is over and you’ll never get the reference you need
How many of these cults are there out there? Hard to say, but 100% they exist. What should you do if you are in one? Don’t be scared, find yourself again and take action, whatever that action might be. Don’t lose yourself or hope!
Teachers don't need to work 60+ hours a week, spend weekends grading/planning, or say yes to everything they're asked to do to be considered PASSIONATE about their job. That's burnout, not passion.
Some teachers want to ignore the bad apples among us. I'm a teacher too but I don't universally & unconditionally support all teachers. And I question teachers who do. That doesn't make me a hater. There are some bad teachers out there doing bad things to kids and that's not ok
You shouldn’t have to pay an extra $50 to sit next to your child on the plane, pay a surprise “resort fee” for a hotel stay, pay $200 to terminate your cable plan, or pay huge service fees to buy concert tickets.
It’s time for Congress to pass the Junk Fee Prevention Act.
