The interesting part here is not just who owns NSE — but who doesn’t dominate it.

Nearly half of NSE’s pre-IPO shareholding (47.26%) sits under “Others”, while ownership is spread across LIC, foreign investors, SBI entities, insurance companies and individual shareholders.

For a market infrastructure institution as important as NSE, this kind of diversified ownership is a positive — less concentration, broader institutional participation and no single shareholder controlling the story.

And with the NSE IPO eventually coming into focus, understanding who already owns the exchange before listing becomes even more interesting.
