Where I work, we are told to call each other by our first names.
And you're not allowed to use "sir/ma".
Well, that's not how I was brought up, but it's where I earn money to feed my family.
To apply wisdom, I use "boss" for an older man or madam for an older woman.
Unless the person says otherwise.
And that otherwise for me, is only applicable within the work environment.
Outside of the office or work related matter, that person will be addressed exactly the way I was taught to address my elders.
