Those nights weren't him choosing absence. They were becoming our whole childhood.

He never missed a payment. Missed every bedtime. Every breakfast. Because the schedule gave him a paycheck. But not a seat at our dinner table.

Overtime isn't just extra hours. It's the years you trade so your kids don't have to. It's a house with your name on the deed and someone else's memories inside it. It's "I love you" clocked in at 10:47 PM.
