I think one of the healthiest things a person can do is become easy to delight. To still stop for weird clouds and dogs wearing bandanas and the smell of garlic cooking somewhere down the street. The world already has enough cynicism. Be the person who still points at the moon.
Black men are told to pull themselves up by their bootstraps in an economy that spent two centuries legislating against their right to own boots. The metaphor was always the cruelty.
One of the wildest phenomena is how people can make any negative claim they want about Black men with no evidence whatsoever and the moment you push back, you are “red pill.” This one of the most prevalent forms of anti-intellectual cope and deflection. You’re too incompetent to understand basic sociological facts and I feel bad for you.
