Had an absolutely fantastic time presenting at @researchED1 yesterday. What a joy to be immersed in such marvelous educators.
A brief summary of my presentation below:
Building a great Personal Development Curriculum is really, really hard...
@ianwhite21 Hi Ian, I appreciate you are a booklet and might struggle to reply to this, but I’m fascinated to find out more about this approach in action whole school…! any chance you might be up for hosting a visit from one of my TnL leads later in the year? Would love to DM if interested!
@teacherhead I’d guess that getting things right at KS3 is the biggest factor. You can’t intervention your way to great outcomes every year. New schools have the time and space to get it right, established schools are chasing the KS4 catch up every year so can’t (and don’t) improve lower down
Far too many popular strategies for teaching reading are not actually supported by research. We sifted through to find the ones that are most effective.
Very challenging situation. Mentoring so rewarding, but time consuming and poorly (if at all) remunerated. W/ the exodus of experienced (and inexperienced) staff and the inevitable reliance of schools on early career or training teachers, what’s to be done? Someone has to do it!
@ClaireEMcD @PastoralKaty @PastoralThings @PsheSpecialists@k8martin @Kps_PSHE @Positivteacha Hi Claire, Ofsted obviously a fickle beast but we had an extremely favourable report, including for PD, in Feb this year… happy to share lessons learned if that would help! Secondary context…

Absolutely no excuse for comments like this. Sickening lack of respect for democracy. This leadership race is a race to the gutter, and it’s truly sad that this is what politicians feel they need to do to win in the current climate.
Lots of people do business, but not everyone does it well!
I read dozens of corporate hagiographies ghostwritten for businessmen (no women, weirdly) so you don't have to, and hear are the several things you need to know 🧵
Problem #5: You're a HoD and have Ofsted looming. What should you be ready to say? What should you be ready to show?
Having been actively involved in 4 inspections this year let me tell you what has remained consistent throughout... 🧵

You might have heard that instructional coaching is one of the most powerful forms of PD for teachers.
But what exactly is it? Here's my perspective on the fundamentals.

Led by Donkeys may not have been the heroes we asked for, but there’s no doubt, they’re certainly the ones we need.
Watch, listen, be shocked, angry and share.
@MrDayDoesTweets @researchED1 Sounds exciting! So glad it was at least a little useful. Would love to see what you’ve come up with, if you’re open to showing? It’s great seeing different models - helps me to further refine and review my own!
