Hey, I'm Chris.
I'm a teacher recording lessons over on Youtube, but I'm building a professional account here on Twitter to increase my reach and help more people.

There's a petition drive in Canada with over 12,000 signatures to "extend the right of asylum" to transgender people in unsafe areas of the globe.
It includes ""Western democracies" which have historically been presumed safe;"
Go sign, Canadians.

Caught some typos, so deleted and reposting.
My student's Social Studies 10 textbook lacked a map I really thought it should have, so I went ahead and made it myself.

@KT_Hamilton1969 @LeiracalMuse@NightlingBug There are always studies that say the opposite and there is ALWAYS someone who will claim that debunks the whole thing, even when consensus has bee reached.
Now consider that these treatments decrease suicide rates in trans youths.
Do you want to risk those kids?
@KT_Hamilton1969 @LeiracalMuse@NightlingBug “The science is not decided” is the same thing that climate skeptics say about climate change when meta analysis clearly shows that 97% of studies a) the climate is changing b) as a result of increased carbon dioxide that c) humans put into the atmosphere.
Tonight in the Persianate world we celebrate the "Night of Yaldâ" (شب یلدا, "Shab-e Yaldâ") the "longest and darkest night of the year".
In Afghanistan, on Yaldâ night we eat spinach rice, fried fish, pomegranate, watermelon and recite Hafez´s poems.
@JasonOnTheDrums If only foundational advocates for freedom of speech like JS Mill had foreseen issues like this and laid out the ethical principles of what should and should not be permitted in society, which solves almost this exact damn dilemma.
Seriously, learn the harm principle Theo.
Posting some of the assignments I’ve written while working on my Master’s of Education (on Tumblr!) if I think they useful for general public. This one definitely is, helped me understand my students and my own brain. On ADHD and attention challenges.

“Special Education” is in quotations because I loathe the term. Our needs aren’t special, they are what we need. I’d you don’t want to teach kids with learning disabilities, you shouldn’t be in this profession. I will die on that hill.
This so many times over. I went to one of the Designated “Special Education” schools and currently teach at one. In both cases there was/is a massive skew towards boys over girls because boys get diagnosed and girls do not. It is heartbreaking.
Stop using the term “rewilding”. You are perpetuating the erasure of Indigenous peoples & our relationships to our lands since time immemorial. It’s a recipe for continued failure in ecological restoration. Land healing isn’t “reset it and forget it”. #nativesinstem#ecology
we need both and we need collaboration. we need builders who have an understanding and appreciation of ideas, philosophy and difference, and we need a world which embraces thinkers and visionaries who build architectures of and in the mind.
humanities degrees can lead to analysis paralysis and stem degrees can lead to a reductive solutionist perspective. but I have never heard anyone from humanities question the need for stem to exist. it's a problem that so many consider humanities an indulgence and not a necessity
@cspotweet The more we see of provincial political parties, the more I think Nunavut is on to something with not having them and using consensus government. Municipal political parties are entirely unnecessary.
