HAZY RAYNER REFUSES TO END LEASEHOLD SCAM BY 2029
Just this week, the government ripped up Lord Hermer’s paralysingly cautious “Rule by Lawyers” advice, urging ministers to be brave.
Yet today we hear more concern for Big Money and judicial review than drowning leaseholders.
Building (£) “The proposals for Aviva Investors would remove the top storey of the seven-storey building at 35 New Broad Street to make way for the office-led extension, adding a total of 11 storeys to the building’s height.” And they call it ‘retro-fit.’ https://t.co/PbOgtk7zBN
@FayeBrownSky Fantastic I’ll be there! Labour have a lot to prove given the absenteeism of Keir Starmer as a constituency MP.
I also extend and open invitation to @andyburnham for him to explain how Labour, and a new constituency MP will make a difference for Camden residents.
We, at 53 Agar Grove, Camden, would like to invite all party leaders to meet us and set out exactly how they’ll be different from our last absentee MP.
Camden deserves to be more than a stepping stone constituency @andyburnham@ZackPolanski@EdwardJDavey@LibdemCharlie

I was sold a “luxury” flat. It’s not by any means.
Deirdre Costigan coffee morning in #Southall Green underscores the failure of Councillors Jasbir Anand, Kamaljit Dhindsa and Peter Mason to engage with local residents on issues which demand a response from Ealing Council.
"The government (...) does not hold information on the number of shared ownership properties that are no longer mortgageable as a result of high service charges, or because the lease is too short"
Nothing to see here.
Great moves Harry! Now, if only @mtpennycook@AngelaRayner would get a move on with legislating leasehold and the cartel into the dustbin of history. Not only will we sing and dance, we might even vote for Labour in 2029.
PM Andy Burnham is making the right noises about Leasehold Law reforms. Leasehold contracts are little more than long-term subscriptions from which signatories are unable to free themselves without a long and expensive legal battle.
Andy has been PM for just six weeks. We know he has a lot on his plate.
But he’s also seen the damage caused by over nine years of government failure to grip this mess when he was @MayorofGM
We want to have hope that things will change.
But hope only gets you so far.
