I've had my criticisms of the government, but this step by Labour - making it clear that what the Greens have done has crossed a red line, and establishing a cordon sanitaire - is EXACTLY the right thing to do.
And I'd like to know why the Lib Dems haven't done the same.
The audacity of Rooney crying “OMG I’m being silenced!” when, just two yrs ago, she launched a boycott of Israeli writers—that is, an explicit attempt at silencing an entire nationality—depends on her understanding that, for Western intelligentsia, the rules do not apply to Jews.
People are free to have their views on this, one way or the other
But to neglect to mention that Rooney herself has called for a boycott of Israeli authors & books is journalistic malpractice

This is the key trick of culture warriors like Russell T. Davies.
They start a culture war, then accuse their critics of starting a culture war when they object.
This is not a ban for supporting Palestine Action but for raising funds. You cannot sell books for Palestine Action in the same way you cannot sell raffle tickets for Maniacs Murder Cult.
Mawkish novels about midwits in love remain legal. https://t.co/Gv48yhmn3N
I oppose banning books. Sally Rooney’s books have not been “banned” - rather it’s a crime in our country to fund or fundraise for proscribed terrorist groups. She chose that her royalties would go to Palestine Action, so her publisher cannot legally pay her the royalties.
We should have the King's Guard outside Downing Street whenever there is a great matter of state or foreign visit.
Absolute aura. Smart decision from No10 here.
Anyone under 30 today can have no real conception of what it was like to live in Britain in the late 1990s, & what Britain's place in the world was.
Andy Burnham just called the Zionism is Racism motion in the Green Party “antisemitic” and clarified that Labour won’t partner with them while it stands. It’s good to hear this said clearly in the House of Commons. I hope that trickles down to the local councils too.
Wild that we put enough value on the Victorian roof to spend millions on deglazing but we will wholesale demolish the almost identical glazed section at the head of the station for oversite development….
This entire roof section will be gone…
The Britain I was born into was a stunning success story.
Gleaming new infrastructure, net energy exporter, efficient and growing private sector, public sector cut down to size, on the road to a sparkling budget surplus.
We really had turned things around from the horror show of the 1970s. It was a remarkable success story. A second coming.
New Labour coasted on that for a decade. And ran down the investment.
The last new motorways, nuclear power stations, runways, reservoirs - they’re all from the Long 90s.
And all we’ve done since then is squander that inheritance, instead of build on it.
He’s correct, it is antisemitic, indefensible, and has no place in government. But neither does the Green Party position on nuclear weapons or NATO. No deals with parties actively working to undermine British national security.
The prime minister says the Green Party’s motion opposing a two state solution for Israel and Palestine is anti semitic - and that Labour could not form any alliance with the Greens while that remains its official policy
The interesting bit: newspaper advertising revenue crashed when:
- they started and won a global war against Google News.
- they put their content behind paywalls.
- they stopped or heavily disincentivized users from commenting on their sites.
It's almost like they were well placed to capture a sizeable chunk of the revenue moving towards new digital technologies, but for some reason they botched it.
Club Brugge’s turnover is roughly similar to ours, @CelticFC.
They’ve just beat our European opponents in the 1967 ECF 3-4 in the San Siro.
An unelected nepo baby of your dominant shareholder at the 2025 AGM told us this was scarcely possible.
Can he confirm how this happened?
I confirm that tonight SpaceX introduced a speed restriction on Starlink terminals while in motion.
At present, the restriction applies to the StarShield “military package” and is set at 100 miles per hour.
Our Defense Forces received no prior warning about this limitation, which resulted in the disruption of a number of missions.
Obviously, this cannot be a coincidence and is connected to the current political situation.
(Quoting Zelensky's miltech advisor)
❗️Last night, the operation of Starlink terminals in Ukraine was restricted.
Connectivity began to drop when moving at speeds exceeding 160 km/h. As a result, a number of critical missions were disrupted.
SpaceX likely took these measures at the request of the Trump administration. Also last night, when Kyiv was attacked by ballistic missiles, Ukraine did not receive intelligence regarding their launch— a failure that could have led to higher casualties.
Ukraine did not attack Russian oil refineries, yet Trump has already begun imposing sanctions on my country. Meanwhile, sanctions against Russia have been eased.
