Hey #EduTwitter! I’m an NQT in year 6 and can’t wait to get involved in your discussions and share in the joy of teaching! I’m passionate about Maths, reading for pleasure and developing healthy, active lifestyles for children to take forward in their lives. #PrimaryRocks
I am thinking: PV, mental calculations, rounding, four operations, operations involving FDP. There doesn’t seem to be much reasoning in CEA. Can anyone in NI advice whether this is the case or not? Please share. TIA! 3/3
Hello Twitter friends - I feel I’ve had a little twitter sabbatical but I’m back! - I wondered if anyone could suggest what they would do in the following situation: I’ve been asked to do 2 (maybe 3) 2 hour sessions with 5 chn who sit entrance exams in NI this November. 1/3
I am from NI but have never taught there and although I know the curriculum is based on our NC, I can only go on information I have found online re CEA tests. Would would you do with 5 chn who are ‘similar’ in maths attainment whom you otherwise no nothing about? 2/3

You know it’s half term when the site manager tells you off for wearing tracksuit bottoms in the grade 2 listed building in which you live.
Time to pop my suit back on to do the dishes. #HalfTerm

...We have a personal development curriculum, which is fantastic, but it’s one afternoon a week. The pastoral support are incredible, although inundated. In year 6, particularly, kids have so many pressures - they need to learn how to manage them. 3
Ironic as it is on Valentine’s Day, today really emphasised a major gap in some of our children’s development. Undoubtedly, English and maths are important, but with such a finite focus, I worry the social & communication skills which underpin everything aren’t being... 1
...given the coverage needed. Just as we teach chn to multiply fractions, we need to teach them to communicate effectively, choose kind words; take responsibility, reflect; respond to adversity, be resilient. These are all fundamental skills... 2
