@JulieJerni47784@PISD_RISE It truly is about the process and growth that occurs from it. I agree that seeing "exceeds" and scores similar are fantastic at first, the genuine feeling of growing, improving, and experiencing that success is truly empowering. #pisdRISEchat
@Mia_aiMR@PISD_RISE Even as adults apologizing (sincerely) can be difficult! This is such a solid skill that needs support and to be taught at any and all levels. Absolutely agreed! #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A16: Not everything in life is personal, and there is always the opportunity to think. It's better to stop, take a breath, and think, than it is to immediately "react" based solely on emotion. It may not always feel that way, but it's important to be aware of it. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A15: I think it would be incredibly interesting to have a counselor lesson centered around students making a Flipgrid about how they overcame a difficult moment in their life, and then provide advice or feedback to their classmates. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A14: It's important to remember that life is a work in progress. Nothing has to be "perfect', nor should it be. We're constantly learning and evolving, and so should our work. Similarly, the feedback we receive and provide should always reflect that. #pisdRISEchat
@Mia_aiMR@PISD_RISE Congratulations on your first year! I'll never forget my mentor either, and the relationship that you develop with them is one that I encourage you to hold onto for as long as you can. #pisdRISEchat
@courtneyngarza@PISD_RISE Flexibility is one of the most important traits in ANY situation in life. Recognizing the ability to reframe your mindset in those stressful and unexpected situations is key. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A13: Life throws things at us that we didn't always ask for, and especially didn't always want. However, we have the mental capacity to respond to these occurrences, and although they can be difficult, they allow us to grow in a myriad of different manners. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A12: I will be more proactive about utilizing available tools to help me organize & plan for each week, while also being planned "weeks" ahead. This will allow me to prepare specific items, and dispose of things that I "thought" I needed, but really didn't. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A11: I cannot just "pick one", but I'd have to say (with sincerity) anyone who has modeled and exemplified different styles of leadership, support, and grit has been an incredible role model and mentor. Thank you, to all of you. #pisdRISEchat
@Kimberl56392657@PISD_RISE A post-it is a very good idea to try and avoid the "tattling" dilemma. It's good to know what's occurring in the classroom... but, we don't always need it to be an interruption to the entire lesson/environment. Very solid middle-ground!
@jaimie_meza@PISD_RISE I COMPLETELY agree! I'm fortunate enough to have never worked with a difficult team, but I've heard stories. Our coworkers help make what we do not only manageable, but truly enjoyable. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A10: Being mindful that what we focus on we get more of (in this case, breeding negativity). Constructive criticism for the purposes of growth is healthy, but allowing ourselves (and others) to aimlessly complain helps no one. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A9: If timing allows, I always try to reflect with those I work with, especially if I know they will give me a different opinion when appropriate. If timing doesn't allow, I make sure to focus on the task at hand, and think about the ramifications of each decision. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A8: Yes, when a student blatantly lies to me and acts oblivious about their behavior; doubly so when I have the proof in front of me (and them). These are the situations when I have to just stop, breathe, and adjust (or tag out to my partner). #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A7: It's very similar to how a counselor of ours, Mike Evans, supports some of our students through a simple question: "Are you in control of your emotions, or are your emotions in control of you?". This section perfectly encapsulated that idea and was so powerful. #pisdRISEchat
@Terrimc90@PISD_RISE Never sell yourself short! First year, or tenth year, it's always going to come with ups and downs. Remind yourself that every year we learn more and more. Be proud that you finished your first year, and look to your second! #pisdRISEchat
@Shelwillis@PISD_RISE So true, Shelby. I've found that if I can take a moment to assess what I'm thinking (and feeling), sometimes I can get the rest I (so desperately) need. It's times like those that I appreciate the support systems I'm fortunate enough to have.
@ChiefB12312023@PISD_RISE I think it's important that we remember that NONE of us are perfect, and, just like you said, teaching is like a dry-erase board (I love this, btw). Try, make an attempt, keep what works, and revise what doesn't. #pisdRISEchat
@PISD_RISE A6: The act of "failing forward" is something that I have tried to live by and adhere to for years. It's important to recognize that we all make mistakes, but it's imperative that we learn from them and grow from them. #pisdRISEchat
