@WalkableAustin How so? Guaranteed because one exists (sort of like free speech in the US) or systemic reform that allows for a wider variety of housing inventory and price options?
@WalkableAustin@austintexasgov It’s fair to say that tech has affected Austin. Unfortunately, the real estate market has noticed and responded before most neighborhoods and city policy. It’s time to evolve in spite of zoning flat earthers.
sticking my neck out to say that this is very good even though it means people who didn't read the article will email me asking why i want to kill people in fires

@atxREpodcast Generally agreed, but worth differentiating between zoning & building code in this tweet. I tend to agree re: zoning. It’s outdated, contradictory, and complicated largely due to politics. Building code saves lives but is complex & rarely understood (even by the experts).
@GonzalesKristie LAND USE REFORM. It’s the biggest issue that only the city can improve & is tied to traffic, cost of rent/housing, accessibility to goods & services, economic opportunities for the real estate & AEC industries, infrastructure, & even homelessness & city culture tangentially.
@ken_duda 2 & 3 seem to be disincentives in our culture. I wonder if there is a precedent anywhere for subsidizing landlords at various scales. Imagine the government paying people to provide appropriate housing solutions without the bureaucracy and snails pace policymaking.
@JackCraver I listened to the whole Malone interview with Rogan to see if I could get actionable info. Seems like the memorable takeaways were that the government is corrupt and so is big pharma. Additionally, there are instances of the vaccine causing negative side effects so does COVID.
@investvoyager Why won’t you guys respond to my help requests? I’ve been waiting for weeks and now feel like my only sensible option is to transfer to a more reliable exchange.
@atxREpodcast … and only then will the permit office accept an application. This is a 6 month delay amid a housing shortage and inflation further compounding the affordability problem. (End rant). Just wanted to toss this anecdote into the thread for fun.
@atxREpodcast (Small rant here) And the city is not helping. We all know this, and yet I’m still surprised by the problem. I’m working on an accessory in my backyard and need to move a power pole. It took 6 weeks for Austn Energy to draw it. It’ll take 4 months for their field work queue…
