A man was caught running a creative matatu scam in Nairobi after replacing official M-Pesa payment stickers on Ngong-bound matatus with his own number.

He would board the matatus, peel off the legitimate stickers, put up his own M-Pesa number, then alight and wait for unsuspecting passengers to send their fare to him.

The trick had reportedly been going on for some time, with unsuspecting matatu Saccos losing money. However, his scheme came to an end after he was caught in Ngong, with video footage showing the man being confronted over the alleged scam.
