🇮🇳 WHEN THE NATION IS CELEBRATING,
CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS ARE STILL WORKING ON TAX AUDITS
Navratri and Vijayadashami are occasions of celebration for the entire nation.
Yet, Chartered Accountants are required to work through this festive period to complete and file Tax Audit Reports, with the extended due date now falling on 21st October.
❌ 21st OCTOBER IS NOT THE RIGHT SOLUTION
An extension from 30th September to 21st October may provide temporary relief, but it does not address the fundamental issue of the due-date structure.
📢 THE TIME HAS COME TO FIX THE DUE DATE PERMANENTLY
From the next financial year onwards, the Tax Audit Report filing due date should be fixed at:
🗓️ 31ST OCTOBER PERMANENTLY
This will provide:
✅ Adequate time for proper verification and reconciliation
✅ Better quality of Tax Audit Reports
✅ Sufficient time to analyse AIS, Form 26AS, TDS and GST data
✅ Less pressure during the festival season
✅ Reduced chances of **errors and omissions
✅ Better compliance for taxpayers as well as the Income Tax Department
TAX AUDIT IS NOT A RACE AGAINST TIME.
It is a professional responsibility requiring verification, analysis, judgement and due care.
LET US NOT ASK FOR AN EXTENSION EVERY YEAR.
LET US FIX THE DATE ONCE AND FOR ALL.
31ST OCTOBER SHOULD BE THE PERMANENT TAX AUDIT DUE DATE.

Retweet For Support For Tax Audit Due Date Extension – 21st October to 31st October
The Government @IncomeTaxIndia should extend the Tax Audit Report due date from 21st October to 31st October considering:
🔹 Navratri and festive season
🔹 Dussehra holidays
🔹 GST GSTR-3B compliance burden
🔹 Reduced working days due to festivals
🔹 Practical difficulties faced by CAs and taxpayers
🙏 Festivals, GST compliance and Tax Audit deadlines together create immense pressure on professionals.
A reasonable extension till 31st October would provide much-needed relief to the entire tax fraternity.

The Council recommended amending section 17(5) of the CGST Act to remove the ITC block on several supplies:
1. Outdoor catering: ITC on outdoor catering services will no longer be blocked.
2. Health and life insurance: Businesses can claim ITC on health and life insurance taken for employees.
3. Telecommunication towers: Telecom companies can claim ITC on towers, which were earlier blocked as immovable property.
4. Pipelines outside factory premises: ITC on pipelines laid outside the factory, which had the same problem, will be allowed.
5. Free samples: ITC on goods given as free samples will no longer have to be reversed.
6. Expired goods: ITC on goods destroyed or written off on expiry of shelf life, where the law requires it, will be allowed. This is a major relief for pharma and FMCG businesses.
Why it matters: Blocked credits become a cost to the business and cause tax cascading. Removing these restrictions improves cash flow and the flow of credit across the supply chain.
