We worked through different stations focusing on the Mariana Trench: creating a mind map about coral reefs, an interactive virtual deep dive, cause/effect close read, and guided writing and fluency checks! #stationrotations
Today kids did some heavy lifting by annotating, charting a character’s feelings throughout a text, and learning/using new vocabulary words as we prepare a claim for an opinion essay. #fourthgrade
To kick off our next unit called “Heroic Feats,” we discussed the question “what makes someone a hero?” then compared everyday heroes with larger than life heroes. We then created our own “larger than life” hero identities and wrote our superhero origin stories.
In WTI, kids summarized what they read by typing it into AI that turned their summaries into songs with album covers. Kids tried during music genres then excitedly shared their songs virtually with each other. #fourthgrade
Today for our first Book Club meeting we had a masquerade where we designed masks based on a character in our text then interacted/answered questions as if we were that character. #bookclub
To review what we’ve learned about nutrition and exercise, kids played a relay game where they had a good card, determined the food group, then exercised their way down to the myPlate. #fourthgrade
We’re researching apex predators by looking at texts, podcasts, and videos to gather info. For each new source we used a new color then discussed how to synthesize our information from multiple sources to form our understanding. #fourthgrade
This week our station rotations focused on central idea and our eyes, from independent reading of “What If You Had Animal Eyes?”, to sorting main idea and supporting detail cards, to small group text-based answer writing, and a BreakoutEDU to unlock the locks. #fourthgrade
