"Time is like a sword. If you don’t use it, it will cut you."

Whether you have plenty of time or very little, you must use it wisely. Time will always be spent. If you don’t spend it on something valuable, you will inevitably spend it on something else—perhaps something that adds no value, or even harms you.

There is a Hausa saying:

“𝑰𝒅𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒂 𝒌𝒂 𝒚𝒊 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒊 𝒃𝒂, 𝒛𝒂 𝒌𝒂 𝒚𝒊 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒘𝒂.”

If you don’t spend your time serving the mosque, you will spend it sweeping the marketplace.

The lesson is simple: use your time for what benefits you in this life and, more importantly, in the Hereafter.

May Allah help us make the best use of our time. Ameen.
