@deryll_dlima For starters, as per AIFF regulations Churchill was relegated from IFL this season . So they are not even eligible (on merit) to play IFL
@WarriorJaded@avispeak92@QEBNA Had that been the case AIFF would have gone on and pressed through the Genius deal. The Govt and ministry literally arm twisted AIFF to agree to the club proposal.
@Abhratwitting@eastbengal_fc Let’s be honest , we can’t expect them to spend crores again without knowing for sure if they will get to play even 15 proper competitive matches in the remaining calendar year.
Durand is 6-7 games at most. AFC is 3-4 games. Even Fed cup dates are not out.
@Abhratwitting@SBluepoppy27249 But wait, the revenue comes in only after the product is in the market. We must not forget out of the 70 Cr annual budget proposed by AIFF next year onwards, 42Crs are to be given by the clubs (60%). So 3Cr per franchise. Isn’t that a franchise central pool (yes of a lesser amt)
@Abhratwitting@lesserbookworm@imanubrata Let’s think about a Super League Kerala because there is no point speaking of IPL or premier league(both leagues have central revenue as the biggest revenue for teams). Even a SLK the largest chunk of the club revenue is coming for the huge streaming deal.
@Abhratwitting@SBluepoppy27249 Otherwise why the IFL clubs are paying Sony this year as well to broadcast their matches even after them being available on tv and on YouTube for free for all in India .
@7negiashish@KhelNow Won’t make much difference tbh. The existing committee was supposed to be in office till August next year anyways which is almost getting us into 2027 in any case.
@QEBNA IFA owes in total over a crore to different stakeholders ranging from clubs to referees . So let’s not jump the gun. The Kolkata league which runs does not even have basic minimum first aid. So they by no means are the standard.
@RohRamesh It’s wrong to say that the Supreme Court mandated. The Supreme Court has also clearly ruled that it is upto AIFF to change any clause in the constitution if they want to. So in it’s wisdom the Apex court has rightly left this in the hands of AIFF
@QEBNA As repeated multiple times, the statement that the top tier league cannot be run privately due to AFC guidelines, is proved to be a lie yet again.
@QEBNA But it is also important to state that the AFC rep clearly stated that there are a few countries in Asia were top league is controlled privately. While as per the AIFF constitution , It is going to be run by AIFF…
@QEBNA Good that AIFF had finally openly said that they will own and operate the league, which basically ends the issue of finding a commercial partner. However the only stumbling block remains this 25 cr deficit if they want to have control on the top tier league
@WarriorJaded@QEBNA By perpetual , they mean that at any point of time the teams who constitute the league at the point of time , will be the owner of the league . If club A plays the league in year 1 and does not in year 2, they will cease to be owners in year 2
@WarriorJaded@QEBNA The club proposal keeps AIFF as the owner of the league(as before). Just that the clubs will have operational control on non regulatory matters (excluding disciplinary affairs , tournament rules , club licensing ) .
@deryll_dlima ‘Monitoring’ needs to be defined then. Surely we are not talking about the clubs bearing 80% of the cost to run the league and AIFF having all the decision making power. If AIFF wants to call the shots let them bear 80% of the costs.
@QEBNA Again it’s misleading. AIFF has said they cannot change it because it is sub judice. Where as Supreme Court has clearly put on record that AIFF does not need it’s permission to amend any clauses as per AIFFs internal process.
