Haven't had time to look at this in detail, but just on the face of it - 6.6m litres a day is 0.25% of England's non-household potable water supply, a little bit more than the amount consumed by the postal and courier sector
Add in households and data centres account for around 0.05% of the total public water supplied
By comparison, leaks account for 19%
Somewhat confusing why data centres that use 0.05% are unforgivable but leaks that consume 400 times that amount are forgiveable - but I guess that's what you expect from the trade body for water companies 🤷
@botzarelli@SimonMagus Case for AI to help in pre-app and offer advice (esp when NPPF, local plans, site allocations, etc are all online) but should always have human in the loop
The UK has twice as many taxes as it had in 1993.
Not twice as much tax. Twice as many taxes.
Yes, we pay a bit more tax, but tax has got a whole lot more complicated. Time to reverse that.
Now it’s time to get that mass transit system moving forward so Leeds can connect stadium & city centre to make it a venue that can host outside of match day, deliver growth & connect communities
🤞🙏

Hugely disappointing but sadly not surprising after successive fails, delays and kicks in the teeth on transport schemes.
Leeds, West Yorkshire and the wider North needs a mass transit system for the growth, jobs, and improving connectivity.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Dickie Bird's passing.
The Yorkshireman was a wonderful player and enjoyed a famed career as one of the game's most beloved umpires.
He died peacefully at his home, aged 92. Rest in peace, Dickie. 🤍

I’d been thinking about this for some time and decided earlier this year that I wouldn’t stand.
In the meantime it’s business as usual, and getting on with the job 😁

In May 2026 it will be 16 years since I was first elected a Councillor. I’ve loved the role and the people, and feel very privileged to have served my community and city. But I won’t be seeking re-election or standing in the local elections.
