Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on relationships, routines, & expectations, you rarely have to defer back to rules.
@teachergoals Everything you say as a teacher has an affect on a student. There has been times that I have said something, but shortly after thought how did the student hear that and feel about it. I would choose the Blue door. Just to have more time with my students.
I had a person tell me that they thought I was twenty years older than I am. I asked why do you think I'm that old.? "It's because you are wise". I'll take that as a win. Life is Good.
I got my AP scores yesterday, and my class rosters for the fall today. It's going to be another great year. I can't wait to see my students. Vita Est Bonus
Education is not teacher centered or even student centered, but it is relationship centered. Teachers thrive w/ positive admin relationships & students thrive w/ positive teacher relationships. Relationships drive education.
