@MartinSLewis@Ed_Miliband I ordered 4500L of gas oil on Monday, 83ppl (+vat). Just has the delivery and the driver reported some who ordered Wednesday at £1.03ppl. He said the kerosene increase was more than double Monday’s rate though 😳
@SophyRidgeSky The mistake is having a leader not even their own party want, no vision or sell to the public of something better, and the poor wider economic and social environment making ‘change’ sound appealing
@SophyRidgeSky Spot on.
A deeply, deeply unpopular person at the helm - unpopular with those who historically supported his own party, let alone those who don’t - with no vision, no sell, no ambition. He doesn’t deserve to stay after 4/July, and a shame his colleagues and party will suffer too
@AnushkaAsthana What the electorate need is an inspiring leader to stand up and say how the country will move to a better place. Project leadership, strength, trustworthiness. Lacking in all directions currently…
@The_original_KL@LarissaMVLopez@EdConwaySky@bankofengland And great, they went down in one month. But that takes months to knock on to businesses and their supply chains. Plus with such a volatile market you can’t react month by month
@BethRigby It’s all down to ENERGY, businesses don’t have a choice but to put prices up. Mortgage rates going up will see employees asking for pay rises, forcing inflation even higher. Gov need to support business’ energy burden, that’s the only way to ease this now
@Jeremy_Hunt The single most effective way to tame inflation right now is to bring down energy costs and support businesses who are having to battle energy-driven cost rises (and therefore having to pass those prices on to consumers). It is NOT fixed by penalising mortgage holders 🤦♂️
@rbrharrison@EvanHD It’s the energy, stupid (to coin a phrase).
Energy costs rising, the implementation of support and then pulling it away from businesses [and then public] affects EVERYTHING somehow.
Central banks’ use interest rates as their lever but are really just punishing borrowers more.
@BethRigby In an alternative response: thank you to all those hard working Con councillors who have lost their seats over night. To the country, I get it, we will listen, we will change, we will do better.
But, no.
10 days ago I sent Chancellor @Jeremy_Hunt a letter (below) asking him to postpone the govt's 20% increase in energy bills on 1 April.
Since, SEVENTY major charities (below), & the energy industry trade body have signed up to support the letter.
IF YOU SUPPORT THE CALL PLS RT
@ReviveCharging - it would be handy to have an online system status page (or even just a tweet to say you’re down), saves us wasting charge going to your broken chargers
@MartinSLewis - during a cost of living crisis @LV announced in the summer maternity leave pay change from 3m full pay to 6m 🙌 Then they decide it’ll only apply to staff starting leave after 1st Jan 🤦♂️ Wont apply even to staff still on full pay ML as 1st Jan comes by. #fail
