Society would be better if everyone just had some sesame chicken with fried rice. Technology can't improve the sweet taste of paninos. Values come from within.
@UW_CSTV Certainly limiting the use of cars will reduce emissions in the area, and conserve our limited fuel resources. Hopefully getting rid of cars won't upset the way of life too much! #stv202#S
@mitahir_stv @UW_STV202 The idea is to prevent trashing boxes, and even recycling incurs some waste. With the increase of shipping, we are probably not going to use all the boxes we get. In terms of "donating" with used boxes, I believe people in need have low standards for the container aesthetics #S
@UW_STV202 There's a great "for free or for sale" Facebook group as well as Kijiji. Almost all my furniture and appliances are used and work perfectly fine. Haven't heard of a place to donate, but I wouldn't be against the idea at all #S
@UW_STV202 https://t.co/2fjMR3lBUA … New, desired goods get delivered to your house in brown boxes while unused goods get passed on to those who need them. Rather than throwing out those goods or pushing the boxes to recycling plants, both can be re-used! #stv202#s
@UW_CSTV@UW_STV202@CBCNews Perhaps this bill would be complemented by one supporting/requiring offices to have a compost bins and compost collection so those coffee pods actually end up getting recycled! #stv202#S
Landfill mining: sort things of economic value, recyclables, biodegradables, fuel sources, etc. while creating more space. Costly, but there are already MSW sites in the US that have profitably implemented landfill reclamation. https://t.co/WgLLLCffh6 #STV202#S
@UW_STV202 As a technology it's in it's infancy. Releasing to public early raises the risk of exposing failures. Losing trust right now would severely impact the future of this industry, hindering progress. Google is acquiring data in a controlled/safe environment, until it is 100% ready #S
@UW_STV202 Very cool concept for a video. Black Mirror on Netflix is full of examples of how rapid progression in technology can backfire on us in many ways #S
Conflicts of interest: Drivers will increase risk of colliding with the bollards when they can't stop in time, and makes it harder to turn right. Crossing guards would also lose out on work. Pedestrians would like this if it indeed made it safer to cross #S
Telescopic bollards could be used along crosswalks to minimise risk of T-bone collisions and pedestrian injury while crossing. The bollards could come out when the light is red, and retract when it is safe. https://t.co/qyirnqhkhN #stv202#s
Tim Hortons line in DC walkway to MC always blocks the walkway. Tim Hortons cares about their customers more, and doesn't put up a guard rail, whereas the people walking by have to stop and slowly manouvre. Not very fair... #stv202#S
@k22jung@UW_STV202 Facebook could intentionally filter out ads that don't fit their political agenda, pretending it was just a false positive. Allowing Facebook to choose what gets filtered, rather than unbiased third parties, means they could also be scrutinized for it. #S
@UW_STV202 False positives can be disputed by the group running the ad if necessary, causing a delay at most. False negatives continue to spread and can cause harm to anyone who sees it. #S
@k22jung@UW_STV202 Good point, and interesting scenario. I suppose it would be necessary to compare the frequency of each scenario and see which payment method is riskier.
@UW_STV202 Great point! An argument can be made that currently prisons are seen as "for profit", incentivizing prisons to encourage repeat offenders...
