The new enrichment benchmarks risk piling even more pressure onto schools and staff.
Ofsted will assess them under personal development from Sept 2026.
Again govt are creating expectations without sufficient funding.
Teachers cannot be compelled to deliver activities beyond directed time.
And we will vigorously defend members' 1265-hour limit.

New enrichment benchmarks: What schools need to know https://t.co/F4Md0ci0Kx
Well this is utterly dishonest hyperbole. All closed schools had been in financial difficulties for years.
This is proof wealth makes stupid people overly intellectually confident. If thats not an argument to scrap entitled, selfish & greedy sods schooling, I don't know what is.
1. A private school doesn’t have a “right” to small class sizes… I wonder if they looked at putting class sizes up to 32? Or reducing the offer?
2. When poor people can’t afford stuff people sneer “get rid of Netflix”… are we meant to be upset that people could
Afford..
I am deeply saddened to learn that Ruckleigh School will be closing its doors at the end of this academic year.
For 117 years, Ruckleigh has been a cornerstone of our community, providing an exceptional education and nurturing environment for generations of children. The school's closure is a significant loss not only for current pupils and staff, but also for parents, former students, and the wider Solihull community who have been part of its remarkable history.
Families are facing rising costs, schools are under increasing financial strain, and children are being forced to leave the communities and classrooms where they feel most secure.
I have repeatedly warned of the unintended consequences of this approach. What was presented as a simple policy change is now having a real and damaging impact on schools, jobs, and families across the country.
As Shadow Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Meriden and Solihull East, I have consistently raised concerns about the unintended consequences of this policy.
The Conservatives are committed to reversing this policy which is hurting our children.
I will continue to press Ministers to rethink this policy and stand up for pupils, parents, teachers, and school communities across Meriden, Solihull East, and beyond.
My thoughts are with everyone connected to Ruckleigh School at this difficult time. Thank you for everything you have contributed to generations of young people and to our local community.
25k a year but not 31.25k (made up numbers)?
3. Private education is a service, why should the tax payer prop it up with VAT exemptions?
4. I for one would scrap all private schools. Imagine if all the powerful / rich people in this country had to send their kids to state..
You get the idea trade unions are by definition left leaning don’t you? And thus not apolitical? I hate people that are clearly intelligent but act like they don’t understand obvious things.
The teaching unions are extreme left.👇
They have no issue publishing this type of material which is heavily politically biased.
How could they possibly represent teachers who vote Conservative or Reform?
Teachers striking days before the GCSE and A Level exams.😱
Kids protesting opposite them, demanding to be taught! Poor kids.
This is the state of our country.
God help us. 😳
Schools will have less than a term to prepare the new enrichment entitlements before Ofsted will inspect them, with sector leaders warning this timeline is ‘ridiculous’

Why are teachers dumb for disagreeing with you? Teachers have always been left leaning and more and more people look at the Labour Party as not left leaning. So obviously the membership will now lean greens?
Muslims voting for a party led by a gay, Jewish man only confirms how inclusive, accepting and diverse British Muslims really are.
Diversity and multiculturalism is winning and GB News presenters are freaking out.
When Brexit passed by 52–48 it was declared the will of the people.
When the Greens win a seat decisively, suddenly it’s sectarianism.
You can’t celebrate democracy only when you like the result.

🚨 NEW: All employers will be required to hand staff pro-union messaging written by the Government under the new Employment Rights Bill
This will include what unions do, the rights available to members and the details of recognised unions in the workplace

Exclusive: More than a third of teachers who run enrichment activities do so outside of directed time and without pay, according to research that raises doubts over the DfE’s drive for schools to run more extracurricular clubs

NEW: Bridget Phillipson will take on schools that close before 3.30pm in Labour’s first curriculum review this week, according to the Telegraph.
The Education Secretary is expected to criticise schools that close earlier in the afternoon and refuse to meet the Government’s target of opening for at least 32.5 hours a week.
Lots of things can be true at the same time:
1) The antisemitic attack in Manchester was horrific and must be universally condemned.
2) Antisemitism is rising across Europe and the West.
3) British Jews are not responsible for the actions of the Israeli government - blaming them is racist.
4) Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, as recognised by the UN and human rights organisations.
5) Israel is supported by powerful allies including the US and Britain.
6) Anti-Muslim racism is surging - just weeks ago, 300k attended a far-right, explicitly anti-Muslim demonstration.
7) Tommy Robinson is a far-right thug and is now welcomed by Israel’s far-right government.
8) The British government must not further curb the right to protest - it is a fundamental democratic right.
The Green Party and Plaid Cymru have 4 seats each, the same as Reform.
Sinn Féin have 7 seats.
SNP have 9
Independents have 21
LibDems have 72.
Why is every media channel constantly blasting out Reform propaganda?
