I am opposed to violence, but I would like to point out that all violence is political. Condemning "political violence" but supporting war (or even the death penalty) is not ethics, it's optics: the difference is familiarity, not morality.
@factpostnews The reason we're in trouble is because we keep cutting taxes. They set mandatory spending based on estimated income, and then they cut the income. Cutting the mandatory spending would solve it, yes, but it means a decrease in services. The better solution is to un-cut the income.
@mrjeffu "for some reason" <- it's because if you make the population angry at a minority so tiny that it can't fight back, they won't pay attention when you repeal Article 9 and ensure that Princess Kako won't be able to inherit. Both things that the majority don't want.
@The_Real_Fly No, it will be like buying them at 4x their peak. And if they weren't profitable and burning billions in cash each year. Anyone who buys these IPOs is going to be a record-level bagholder providing exit liquidity for VC.
@Reuters I don't really understand why we need to take a stake in any of them. We can just tax them. That's the normal way the government raises funds. Otherwise this is just socialism, which I've been told is very bad.
@Reuters Why would we take stakes in a bunch of failing companies? Let them fail and then, if we must, buy a stake in the winner. Otherwise this looks more like a bailout than anything.
@MikeIsaac You would think they would consider the consequences of a single company having revenue that's over 60% of US GDP and more than 4x Amazon or Walmart. That company would *for sure* be a national security threat and shut down.
@DannyAraya This is a stupid conspiracy theory. In order for it to work, every home would need fiber internet access. The cable company monopolies would never allow that to happen, because it would require spending money to upgrade their infrastructure, which would hurt their stock price.
@japantimes I'm not opposed to nuclear, but why aren't they installing more solar/batteries and wind? Seems cheaper and wiser for an area prone to earthquakes. Or maybe they are but it isn't being reported?
