- No matter which Pokémon I enable the feature for, it stays OFF...

I hope you realize that your answer doesn't make any sense, given that you coded this feature so that only ONE can be active at a time—since the game notifies us that whenever we switch, the previous one is automatically disabled.
And yes I play on the latest version !!

OP's concern is absolutely valid and probably something that slipped @PokemonGoApp's mind when implementing this feature.
In the case that you're not able to communicate with your trade partner, maybe a rule like in TCGP is needed?
Only mons of equal "value" can be traded? ��

I had over 6,000 Pokémon that were renamed in this way, which took me hours to do in order to distinguish my collections... 🤬 @NianticHelp

Second negative point: this same version immediately deletes ALL special characters such as ♣, which I used for shiny Pokémon to trade with my friends, or ∞§♂️♀️ ★, which I used to rename my Pokémon collections 😡

Please revert it @NianticHelp
