More Than a Ceremony, a Milestone: Walthill's new chapter begins
"As long as I’ve been here, everyone has said, ‘We know we need a new school. It’s coming. It’s been promised to us. It’s coming.’ Well, we’re finally here, which is just so cool.”

“This is more than a ceremony. It’s a milestone.”
For Walthill Public Schools, who broke ground on their new campus on the edge of town, it’s momentous. Their old building stood for 120 years. This one will stand for generations to come.
A day long in the making. Story coming!
The groundbreaking ceremony in Walthill this afternoon was both a celebration of the school’s past and its exciting future, attended by students, donors, media and community members.
We were honored to be there with @NCSAKevin to cover what was a special and historic event.
In the latest The Sup & The Scribe, meet Walthill's Seth Sackmann!
"Our kids are generally hard-shelled on the exterior, but once they know you’re here for the right reasons and you’re going to stick around, they'll open their entire world to you.”

Our next “The Sup & The Scribe” took us to Walthill this morning, where Seth Sackmann is off and running in his first year as a superintendent.
“I want our kids to look back and think, ‘No matter what, my school was there for me. My school had my back.”
Story coming soon!
Maslow Before Bloom
Before the lessons and the tests,
Before the grades that deem who’s best,
We must remember first to see,
The roots beneath the learning tree.
A child hungry, tired, or cold,
Cannot grasp the stories told.
No formula or history chart,
Can reach a wounded, aching heart.
Safety, love, a place to rest,
Come first before we learn or test.
For minds can’t flourish, dream, or bloom,
In a heart that’s trapped in gloom.
So feed the spirit, calm the fears,
Dry the eyes, and lend your ears.
Build the trust and light the way,
Then knowledge will find room to stay.
When Maslow’s needs are met with care,
Then Bloom can follow anywhere.
But first, we nurture, heal, and tend,
For true growth starts where basics mend.
Schools may be out, but school maintenance workers are diligently working over the summer to make sure buildings & facilities are ready for the new school year.
Even though we may not see your great work until we return in the fall, we see & appreciate you!
